Yes, you are so right. When I emailed them to object to them showing my details as I had 'opted out' quite clearly, they replied with an arrogant, uninterested email, totally disregarding my point and failing to address it.
When I objected at having to fill in a form and post it off when an email should be sufficient, I was again rewarded with an ignorant, dismissive email, not answering any of my points at all.
In the end, I sent off the damn form and thankfully my details are removed now.
 They make me vomit.0

Yes they do, search someone you know or yourself, they show so much its scary...anything about you from anywhere...newspaper articles, email address, FaceBook link to your Facebook - you'll be surprised and horrified (anywhere your name is mentioned or anywhere a photo of you appears and yes, they show the photo..I searched a few people I know and was so shocked.0

Forgot to add that those 'extra' details are not removed, no way to get them removed...I closed my FaceBook account as that was the only way to get it removed...but other details about you that are available in the public domain on the web, no chance, there they are for all to see :mad:0

That is really bad, I do have a Facebook account and a profile picture but no one can view any information about me or my friends list. I have also heard that a Facebook account is one of the hardest things to close down as peoples details still stay in the system.
192.com To date have not replied to my email asking if they hold any more records on me no surprise there0

Most people try to close their FaceBook by the online method they show on the site, this doesn't work as it doesn't completely remove all the details they hold about you - their excuse for this is that you may wish to return to FaceBook at some stage in the future...however, I contacted them directly as I wished all my details be removed permanently from the site and it is possible - it takes a total of 60 days for this to occur but if you follow the procedure they ask you to follow, your complete details (including friends lists, photos they hosted, posts, any blog posts etc) are removed permanently from their servers...
As your picture is public on FaceBook, it will be displayed on 192.com...only way to remove that from 193.com is to remove it from FaceBook and not have a profile pic on there...0

I guess you could spend £10 and send them a data protection act request0

I have the whole 192 data on my PC. I have their software that they sell called UKINFO. I can also tell you many many other people and business have it too.
Infact anyone can download it if they know where to look. Chances are now you are going to get your details remved however googles cached links will be there for some time and 192 cant do much about that.
Also even though you are removed from their database, it doesn't mean you have been removed from the data people have purchased as UKINFO.
Me personally I have found it invaluable0

we are ex-directory & registered with the telephone preference agency. we also have opted out of being on public records yet we appear on the 192 website.
we have had hundreds of phone calls from companies & also some scammer phone calls saying they can fix my computer while i am on the phone with them.
i finally got one company to tell me where they got our details & they told me they use 192.com & this is where they got our details.
i have made many requests to have our details removed.why should i be forced to complete their form to remove our details when they have added them without our consent, knowledge or permission.
i have now emailed the TPS cc to 192.com with a complaint0

Yip, I had the same problem, opted out of public records, am registered with TPS and am ex-directory, yet we still appeared on the 192 website - only way I could get them to remove my data was to fill in their silly form and pay the cost of a stamp to send it, which I shouldn't have had to do as I wasn't supposed to be on their website in the first place, they must be stopped somehow, but how? I complained to all and sundry, yet no one did anything  Big Brother eh?0
