Most of these packages are *ADSL* so will NOT work with Blueyonder.

If you want a *DSL* router recommendation mine is the Linksys WRT54GS which is flawless.

Again, ADSL = DSL. Cable requires a "broadband" router, one with an ethernet port. There is no DSL technology in cable broadband whatsoever.

Please stop calling cable DSL, it's just not, and only confuses the matter.

    Let's clear this up
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dsl
DSL is the principal competition of cable modems for providing high speed Internet access to home consumers in Europe and North America.

    Big thumb up for 3com.

brought the identical model from Amazon a yr ago for £49.99 (Router + USB, No PC Card).

the lighting strike last week has killed my BT line + router (wonder how that happened).

in touch with 3Com support (0800 096 3266), not just the number is free, they also route the calls to Canada, waiting time is less than 30 sec.

nice friendly ppl down there, then just issued an replacement without even asking the fault.

replacement was sent from Germany, courier - UPS, scurely packed and took 2 days from door to door.

You just can not ask for any better than this. honestly!!!

Actually the Netgear website describes it as "BROADBAND VOICE ADAPTER WITH ROUTER AND 2 PHONE PORTS"

    http://www.netgear.com/Products/RoutersandGateways/WiredRouters/TA612V.aspx

I think most people looking at this thread are looking for wireless routers.
The Netgear TA612V is only a router in the sense that it is possible to connect a single computer to it via a LAN Ethernet cable (i.e. wired) or multiple computers via a switch or connect a wireless router to it to enable a wireless network.

I bought one and am using it in conjunction with a Netgear ADSL wireless modem/router. :)

I thnk MOST people only have one computer (looks around at 2x Shuttles, 2x laptops, iMac) ;)

I'm just letting them know its available.

The problem with this will be when people look to add or use more wireless items such as an xbox or ps2 as well as their pc or laptop and find it hasn't got enough ports so they need to buy a new one, It may be perfectly adequate for some, they just need to be aware how many devices they can connect.

I have mine connected to 3 pc's, XBox 360, XBox, etc.

All you need is a simple network switch, under £10 from dabs, ebuyer, etc.

The connection is then Computers/Laptops > Switch > NetGear VOIP > ADSL Router

Of course you do this but then would it not be as well spend this tenner on a proper 4 port router (plenty available for the £30 mark) and not have to have another piece of kit to plug in?

Yep, but you dont get VOIP.....

I only have this config as when I originally purchased my router (many years ago - Cisco equipment), multiple ports were not available, hence the seperate switch!

A wireless router plus this VOIP unit should do the job more easily now :)
