3-Com Wireless Router Package £29.91 at Staples

Options
Apologies if this has been posted B4 but my broadband is off at home so have been trying to sort out and thought was a cheap way of trying wireless to maybe fix my problem.

The deal is for;

3 com wireless ADSL router/modem
3 com USB thingy for Desktop
3 com Laptop card

Sorry I can't be any more specific as its not on their website, and was told to me from a friend who found it on adslguide.org in their forums.

Anyhow its in a red box, and is discontinued stock so you need to get them to check which store has some (Bolton and Rochdale had 10 each but Stockport and Ashton had none for example.)

I think the stock code was 38129 or similar, my receipt shows a long number 0662705506081 - don't know what that is, but it may help.

I believe it was up for £75 not-so-long ago, and they still sell each individual bit for £20 each, so I reckon its a bargain.

The only downside is that its NOT MIMO and is only 54mbs so isn't the latest kit.
I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing! ;)

Be careful they have two boxes blue and red, both the same price.
The blue one only has the router/ ADSL modem, whereas the red box has a USB dongle and a PCcard as well. They both have firewalls,
I got the blue one weeks ago and managed to return it and get it replaced with the red.

Also had a BT1500 wireless 54g router for £9.99 and some Belkin and Lynksys 54+ stuff, £9.99 to £29.99 including printer servers Belkin and Linksys (£19.99) and a BARGAIN WVC54G wireless network colour camera for £39.99, thats £100 off.

  • The red box actually is simply a cover for 3 blue boxes inside.

Whilst I've got the kit, I'm damned if I can get it to connect to the internet (yet).

But then I've only just got my LLU working stable from last Thursday, so lets see if that continues before learning to run.

The Network seems to work OK, although the disks are 2004 and so when I installed it I had to choose the bottom item on the windows list with a driver called 79 rather than 78 (or it wouldnt finish the add hardware wizard).

What's the model number of the router/modem? Thanks.

No. This package is for ADSL. I need DSL as I have NTL. I think thats correct anyway...

From the website; 'This product is designed to support DSL over POTS (ITU Annex A). Availability varies by region; check with your ISP for support details.'

    Not sure if that helps.
