Just to let people know, these printers are cheap, but the ink for them isnt.

They come with a set, but after that you need to buy them from dell. And they dont come cheap!

There also isnt any 3rd party ink cartridges for them either.

They are usually Lexmark cartridges with a different top, so that the Lexmark brand will not fit, because the cover wont close.
If you are brave, you can break/bend the lug on the cartridge locking cover so that the Lexmark ones fit. However Lexmark ones are not cheap, so I refill my own Lexmark cartridges, and use them in the Dells.
The black is easy you just drill a hole and fill with a syringe. The colour is a little more difficult as you have to know which colour is where. I crack the tops off with a Stanley knife. Ink is available cheaply even at Poundland.

  • 924 has sold this month on ebay between £30.50 and £60 including postage.£30.50 was a bit of an aberation as next cheapest (with included inks)was £41. Lots going in £50+ bracket. Seems lots of the population yet to benefit from our site.

Suggest multiple purchases will be quite profitable. Will dip toe in the water with 4 4 X £50 = £200 for £90 outlay. Always a gamble of course but could be a quick century in the pocket which never hurts.

Also gather that they sell refills in poundland. Anyone been in to see how much they are?

  • Looks a good bargin to me - not that difficult to refill - have been refilling several Dell 720's for a couple of years with no problems!
I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!
  • So how would somebody fill up the Dell 924 Printer? Is there a kit I can buy to refill the cartridges? Or will the Lexmark cartridges at Netto/Aldi fit?
  • Gave up last night as could not get the right prices. Came out much more and got frustrated. Any tips?

Try giving us more details of your problem? What amount did you come up with? What model are you planning to buy? Did you remove the USB cable (worth 12quid from Dell)?
  • Thanks cowboy, have 4 of each in the basket and it comes to £144.20. About to press the buy button but of course before I do, can this be lowered even more?
