  • Hi all,

I just posted the below to Trets77.

I got a letter through my door a matter of days after my first purchase on the second card to day that I had been awarded 20,000 destination miles. I immediately called the Diamond Club and got them to confirm that I had 40,000 airmiles and they confirmed it.

Unless MBNA have changed things since, I can't see there being a problem. I actually called MBNA after getting my first card and discussed it with a CS agent and they confirmed that you could have 5 credit cards and they didn't see why you couldn't get airmiles on each one. I asked them to check with a manager and they agreed.

So joolski, I would recommend calling MBNA rather than the Diamond Club. I can't see what right the Diamond Club have in telling you how many credit cards you should and shouldn't have. They're only an airmiles club. Talk to MBNA and tell them that you want the second 20,000 airmiles credited to your account.

Incidentally, have you made purchases on both cards yet? Because if not then do that first and maybe they'll get credited automatically.

15,000 additional bonus miles* if you spend £1,000 on our card† by 31 December 2006.

Read the whole thread especially my two posts and stratford's link to flyertalk (post 11)as there is some misinformation by well intended people on here.

I am on my 4th BMI card and the miles get credited usually before the letter arrives telling you that you've qualified.

There is NO minimum spend- lowest I've spent is 80p!

I'm a bit suspect as to the fact that you can have 5 BMI credit cards at once (I know you can have both the Standard card and the Platininum one).

You can have 5 MBNA cards, they just spread your maximum credit limit across the cards.

I have a Virgin Amex card (for Virgin FF miles) and the BMI card. My initial limit on the Virgin card was reduced when I got the BMI one.

I have received my 3rd Citibank card and have a possible cunning plan as to how to get the miles without spending the money.....(well spending it, then getting a refund).
I'm researching this and will post my idea when I'm sure it's feasible.

    PS
My wife and I have just returned from Hawaii for £110.80 in total for the airfares courtesy of BMI, AA and Virgin FF miles mostly gained from credit card applications.

I have had 3 BMI cards so far (Apply, spend, wait for miles, cancel-Repeat about 2 months after the cancellation)

The whole cycle takes about 4 months minimum.

Type was that I've just applied for my 4th.

I did get refused in September as I'd only cancelled in the August.
I rang to ask why and was told basically to wait a bit longer then apply again.

My AA Citibank card arrived today and I have called and activated it. Apart from spending £1,000 is there anything I need to do? How do I get access to this 'special 20,000 miles offer' page and how do I check my airmiles total? Sorry to sound dense!!

You don't need to, you should qualify if you applied before 15th Nov.
and how do I check my airmiles total?
American Airlines will send you a letter telling you your AAdvantage number.
and a default password (I think).

Go to the Login page on Aa.com and enter the details.

Your airmiles balance will show there.

Be patient, it may take a few weeks to get the number, just spend the £1000 before 31st December!

Don't forget to cancel this card before the 12 months is up as there is an annual fee of £25.00 (waived for the first year)

    UPDATE
My wife has now been refused for a 4th BMI card.
I will wait now until we've both had a 6 month gap between cards before applying again.

Thanks for your help there, appreciate it. I will await my number and hope to log in and see my points! :) I am just a little concerned as I was quite close to the deadline when I noticed this offer and posted off my application. Is there any way I can check if I got in on time (the acceptance letter was dated 17th November)?
  • Does anyone know if the 20000 points offer (The BMI one) applies per Account

or can i apply for the BMI Classic mastercard offer with just one account but with an additional card holder (my wife) and get the points on both cards?
