Thanks to LB1985, Noodles and Blindman for their posts.
I applied for the card when I first heard about it back in November, spent over the £1000 and am now waiting.... Have checked my AA account and have noticed that 5,000 miles were credited when the card was issued and then a 1,000 mile bonus credited when the December statement was issued.
Do you have the contact details for a person to contact at AA and Citibank to ensure that we get the correct miles and also benefit from the reduced mileage? In this way at least we can all channel our complaints to one person and hopefully get somewhere.0 -

Sounds like you did not qualify for the offer as the initial bonus miles should be 10,000 miles.
Their standard bonus for opening an account is 5,000.
Contact number is
0800 783 778
This will get you though to an India call centre.
Be persistent (not rude) and ask for a manager if the first CS doesn't sort your query.
My post #69 details the limits of the offer, did you comply with them?
Complaint number is thanks to NoodlesFor anyone wanting the number for the Accelerated Complaints (Chief Exec's) office that I was given yesterday, it's 0800 146 188.
I spoke to an Enlgish person-Andy.
Let us know how you get on.0 -
I wrote to citibank and today received a letter back from them.Thank you for your recent correspondence regarding your account.
Please be advised that you can earn 5,000 AAdvantage bonus miles for taking out the card and activating it by 18th November 2006. You are also entitled to earn an additional 15,000 bonus miles if you spend £1,000 by 31 December 2006.
The additional 15,000 bonus miles will be added to your account at the end of the month in which the £1,000 spend target is met. The additional airmiles would reflect on your next month's account statement.
We would advise you to contact AA directly on 0845 789 0890 for any enquiries in this regard.
Should you have any further questions regarding your account, please do not hesitate to contact us on 0870 908 6000 or logon to our website https://www.citibank.co.uk
Yours sincerley,
Operations Administration
Not bad given my primary reason for writing was to request my AAdvantage account details! Anyone else know if there's an easy way of discovering this other than phoning AA? I was going to try emailing but you need your account number to be able to do so!0 -
I have had 10,000 of my 15,000 bonus miles credited today. If anyone tries to tell you that it takes 14 days for AA to credit to an account, that's rubbish. They managed to add and take off an erroneous 1,000 miles within 24 hours and added the 10,000 above overnight. They have assured me that the outstanding 5000 will be in my account in 48 hours or less. I hope that it will be there tomorrow.
I spoke to a lady called Joanne Kenyan at Citibank (Accelerated Complaints), who is now more than aware that this is a hot potato for Citibank. I have also told them that there are plenty more people like me fed up to the back teeth with this offer, which is fast running out of time for booking and usage of points without incurring a charge (charge is made if you want to fly within 20 days' time).
p.s. I have spoken to Natasha in the call centre also - without meaning to be rude to her, she gave me completely duff info about the process for crediting airmiles, at which point I was forwarded onto Accelerated complaints as mentioned in my previous posts.
pps AA Advantage will NOT be able to help with any delays in the points process - it's purely a Citibank mess.0 -
I had to ring AA for my account details - they found them easily from my address details. Couldn't find any other way of discovering the number.0

Thanks, will give them a call then.
Just a thought - I presume both legs of the trip have to be used before the 31st March? ie I can't travel out on 20th March and return on 4th April?0 -

GREAT NEWS - I have this morning been given the outstanding 5,000 and finally have over 20,000 miles in my AA Advantage account.
Now for the next battle, seeing what flights I can and can't get with AA!
Will keep you posted as to how I get on and whether I find out anything more about restrictions.0 -

Is all this sucess down to Joanne at the Accelerated Complaints centre?
Did she mention any compensation for your delay\troubles?
I've not heard back from Andy in the complaints centre-only rang yesterday, but I'm hoping to be able to claim compensation for this delay for both myself and wifes accounts.0 -

I didn't mention compensation, and funnily enough neither did she!I'm not really too concerned about compensation - I just wanted the 20,000 to go and see my sister. I'll shut the account down now after all this hassle.
On a completely different but related topic, we found out today that AA want $100 to transfer my son's 7000 AA airmiles (from a flight which was paid for by my mum) to my mum's AA Advantage account. What a rip off!!
Best of luck0 -
Noodles wrote:Put it this way, although I think I irritated her with my persistence, I don't think I'd have them now if I hadn't spoken to her. She is now aware of the exact number of miles we are owed through this promotion. If I were you I would try and get hold of her rather than Andy. I also spoke the other day to Matthew Jones, but he wanted to pass it back to Joanne. Joanne emailed AA Customer Services directly to get my points put on (they have been added as Customer Service Bonus rather than purchase points) and they can do it overnight as I said previously.

What date was your last statement made up?
My wifes was 8th December- so she should have had the miles easily by now.
Mine was 22nd December so in theory they have until Friday to get them to my account.AA want $100 to transfer my son's 7000 AA airmiles
The other rip off is that to book an award travel that involves stopovers, i.e. it can't be done online (their fault), you have to ring them up and it costs £15.00 per AWARD.
To add salt to the wound it only cost $15.00 if you're a Yank!
With regard to the 14 days to credit your account with the miles.
Citibank CS can award them at their discretion immediately (as you've found out) but to get them in the usual process from spending then it usually takes at least a week (IMHO).
Either way I'm not chasing them until the 15th when I'll claim I missed out on the 20K return trip offer as the flights are not there or there's a penalty if one books an award flight within less than 20 days of the trip.
Have you rung AA yet to find the elusive link?0
