Earn 20,000 air miles with credit card enough for a free flight to USA,

OK an update following two calls, one to AAdvantage and one to CitiCards:
AAdvantage were aware of the 20,000 miles return trip to the USA (expiring 31/03/07) - apparently there is a link somewhere on the website for booking, although I have yet to find it!
CitiCards tell me the reason I have to wait until 14 days after my 29 January statement for my 10,000 bonus miles is that the offer did not end until 31/12/06 and therefore, miles are credited following the January statement. Not too convinced by this, seeing as I crossed the £1000 mark roughly mid-December, as is shown on my current statement.0 -

if you are spending away to the run up to christmas, why not get yourself a free flight to getaway after its all over you deserve it.
all you need to do is just apply and spend on the card whoopee
Apply before 15 November 2006 and you will receive 5,000 AAdvantage bonus miles for activating your card and an additional 15,000 AAdvantage bonus miles* if you spend £1,000 on your card by 31 December 2006. This gives you 20,000 AAdvantage bonus miles – enough for a flight to Europe on oneworld® partner airlines or to North America, Mexico or the Caribbean on American Airlines.**
Hold your "whoopee" for a mo.....
I have spent the required amount and well within the timeframes. Each time I ring up to find out where my miles are I get fobbed off by an Asian call centre operative. I have been promised my miles 1) on spending the £1,000 which I did by early December then 2) by 31st December when they "would upload the miles of everyone who had qualified, then 3) when my January statement printed (5/1/07), then 4) on the Friday following my statement run, then 5) the "Accelerated Complaints"(!) department (Chief Exec's office) promised yesterday that they would be on by today - apparently my account wasn't given the correct Promotion Code. STILL NO JOY. With only a limited time to use the bonus miles (ie by 31st March), I feel that every delay has been put in place by Citibank to scupper any usage of this promotion. It's a disgrace and Citibank should be ashamed of their lack of attention to customer service. For anyone wanting the number for the Accelerated Complaints (Chief Exec's) office that I was given yesterday, it's 0800 146 188.0 -

I do sympathise with those who are trying to use the 20K for the promo as Citiw*** CS in India is the pits.
Have you found the elusive link on the AA site that lets you book a return trip for 20K
We're all getting the fobbed off replies from incompetent CS staff in India.
All I can suggest is that lots of us ring in to complain\chase the miles both with AA and Citiw***
I'm chasing up the miles in order that I can close the account quickly and then reopen after about 3-4 months to get the usual 5K bonus, which I'll then repeat.0 -
I have just received my BMI credit card. Can someone please explain how I get 20,000 miles credited to my Diamond Club FF account?
thanks.0 -

Wait for the miles to be credited to either your existing account or to the new account they automatically setup.0 -

1) Apply for card on Internet.
2) PIN arrives 2-7 days
3) Get phone call from MBNA trying to sell me stuff -3 days
4) Card arrives 7-10 days
5) I spend a really small amount a.s.a.p. 1 minute after I get the card.
6) Put card in drawer
7) 20K miles in the account - 4 weeks (depends on various things, can take 4- 6 weeks
9) Letter arrives stating I've qualified for 20K miles -4-5 weeks
10) Cancel card-cut it up 1 minute after miles are in my account
11) Wait 4-5 weeks
12 Repeat 1)
This sequence has been screwed up recently by
1) Me applying for a Virgin FF Amex card
2) BMI opening me another Diamond club account from which they've still not transferred my 20K miles (which are there).
Once this last glitch is fixed it's back to the old routine:D
BTW
There is a 'Thanks' button0 -

By the way, I'm not sure I ever thought it was a return flight....just one way for 20K. If that's wrong, then great, but at this rate by the time the miles hit the AA account, 31st March will be long gone and so will all the flights you could have booked.0 -
Be sure to keep your New BMI diamond club details very safe and quote the number at the top of the online application form for future cards .
By the By booked my return flights for 2 to Boston with 50% cash and 50% miles . flying with US Airwaysoutward and United return. saved about £700 on current price searches on the trip on my dates
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

I may be getting somewhere.
Natasha of Citibank rang me back with this info:
She has advised that the procedure for awarding the bonus miles is as follows:
On the Friday following your statement date in which you qualified for the bonus -
The request to award the bonus miles "should have been" sent to American Airlines
AA then have 14 days to add these bonus miles.
If these bonus miles have not been added after 14 days then you are entitled to compensation.
If this is true, then my wife is entitled to 'compensation' (I assume it will be more miles) and if my miles aren't posted by midnight Friday 12th then I'll be due some too.
You need to ring CS at Citibank and quote this time period to make them aware you are entitlted to compensation.
Alledgedly they are aware of 'some' accounts that haven't been awarded miles and are looking into it
The more people that complain, hopefully the quicker this gets resolved.
I aslo rang the complaints dept yesterday-9th Jan. Had no response yet.0
