  • Hiya brizzled  Nice to see you popping in.

The work on the house is essential as part of maintenance and also the fact that we will want to move eventually if financially possible so it makes sense that essential work is completed.

I need to list all jobs that want doing and then work out what order these should be done in: new windows, new guttering, new boiler and radiators, damp-proof course, new bathroom, new internal and external doors, new fire, replastering... yeesh and that is all just off the top of my head.

So far I have joined the SEALED POT challenge. I have popped in my spare change already and am looking forward to opening this next year :D I think I need to join the make £10 a day thread I am pretty sure there is one but I will join this from the start of January.

Me and OH had a really good chat yesterday and are saving up for an amazing holiday. Trouble is OH has disposable income to save and I really need to work out how I am going to finance this. The trip is not for a few years but I need to learn the good habits of saving separately for all the things I need.

1 load of washing dried folded and ready to be moved
2nd load of washing in dryer
1 lot of pots washed ... 1 lot to go
    living room dusted
Several short surveys done or screened out of

Still lots to be cleaned, vacuumed and tidied, also lots of progress to be made on the 50 day challenge. Want to get to the end of today feeling like I have achieved something, my head is not feeling too great though so will just have to do my best.

all paperwork that can be shredded, shredded,
    all upstairs bins emptied
2 drawers sorted out - not much to do really as have been done so often
    surfaces in bedrooms decluttered :D
Several short surveys done or screened out of

And still much to be done :rotfl:

Maybe a bit of a to do list is in order for today and tomorrow:
    ToDo:

    Write up MS
Add on list of things to be done: contact docs, contact gutter man
    Vacuum living room
Bleach walls in living room
    Tidy living room
Finally obliterate paperwork mountain of doom
Aim to be at page 15 of business plan
Put all clothes in wardrobe :o
    Sort veg for freezer :T
Clean ALL windows downstairs - except for the one I can't reach
Apply for interest free card *fingers crossed everyone*
Get knitting ready for the week
Check offer still stands for transfer for utilities and do this
    Type up more of book
Print off details of books sold

Phew! Much to do, partly inspired by the end of the 50 days looming large  and partly inspired by OH being out for most of the weekend although I am hearing rumblings that these plans may be changing

One of the house jobs is the purchase of a set of loft ladders. I *need* the loft ladders as we can't get in the loft without borrowing ladders off someone. Sadly, much as I love xmas all my decorations are up there and we don't think we can get to them as we can't borrow any ladders just now :(:(

Now how to raise the funds to buy the ladders  Maybe if I leave the funds in my paypal account from any ebay sales and use this for the purchase as I have found some on ebay for £56 ?? Will see how the sales go tomorrow as I have hardly any watchers and no bids just now :(

    **Off to check on tea**

  • This post is to detail all the house jobs that need doing and then I can edit it later with anything that needs to be added on or crossed off. Of course, as these things are done and paid for it will mean that the debt is reducing more slowly but it will also mean that value is being retained in the property. This will not include any new furniture which is needed.

    In no particular order:

Loft ladders to be purchased and fitted
Windows and doors to be replaced
    Internal doors to be replaced
    Plastering of 2 rooms
New bathroom suite including tiles to be purchased and fitted
Guttering, facias and downspouts (?) to be replaced
Fire to be removed and replaced
    New flooring in living room
Damp proof course to be done
Window ledge things (external) to be repaired
    New boiler and radiators
    New shed
    Fencing to be replaced

  • Well OH's plans got cancelled last minute last night so as we were in together we watched an OK film. This of course meant I never got any of the jobs done that I had to complete which leaves a bit of a mammoth task today

Currently have completed 1 survey, been screened out of another
    Done free scratches
    Currently on BP

  • TADA:

Up to page 12 of buiness plan. - Some of what I have done so far has TBC details but this is due to technical, legal issues which I will need advice on.. hmmm from where...
    1 lot of pots done
all washing moved from yesterday :A

I have done all free scartches and BP for today. Currently working on an MS report and will be showering shortly. I have also decided to part with a winter coat, it is nice but big and heavy so too costly on postage to ebay. I will ask my mum if she would like it and if not it can be added to the small selection of things for carboot :D This will clear some space in my small wardrobe for some of the things that aren't in there but that should be. :)

Well, all my to do list will not be completed today. Also, I can't do all the washing as I am out of cloths, no use grumbling it'll just have to go on the shopping list and then get done

Well I've been looking at my signature and have realised in about 6weeks (since I started this diary) I have only reduced this target by £103.18. I realise if I had not had to spend, literally, several hundred pounds keeping my car running then this figure would be alot better and I could start thinking about the other targets I have to work on.

I have also had several birthdays - which I have done in as MSE a way as possible and due to the festive season :xmastree:I have been out with friends alot more than usual. I hardly ever go out with friends and thoroughly enjoy it when I do but this all means spending extra money. I now have 2 more meals out and no doubt an evening of drinks with OH.

So I have just paid some more off my target *Eep* I did kinda do my sums beforehand  and figured I do have to push myself to reduce the debts as quickly as possible. I have £300 to find before the end of the month and this does not include money for nights out. I have a little money due in from MS's and book sales and Quidco - though no idea when Quidco pay out? I also have a little due in from part-time work. OH still owes me some money too.
