    Hi all :)

There are a few things i'd like to update on but i am currently scratching my head over my CV. I've found a couple of jobs to apply for but they just want a cv sending in and mine is pretty carp :(

I've been looking at the link the lovely jwil posted but its so different to how my CV is - i was recently told i need to put key achievements in for each job rather than as a separate thing ? Advice / suggestions welcome :) What i'm thinking is put company, job title and the achievements in that role for my 3 most recent jobs - sounds alot doesn't it ? but there's some stuff i did at the job i was made redundant from that i absolutely do not want to leave out :o and then for the stuff that was before this - over 10 years ago then - just put company, job title and dates? If i put all my achievements in together they are quite different due to the different jobs so they don't seem coherent together. Blah!

And my profile - i have always struggled with this :o Eurgh! its going to take ages :o

I was also advised not to include references on a cv as these will be asked for if i get to interview etc.

    Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!

Thanks jwil - but i'm just going to get sick of myself moaning too - i do need to sort myself out with some things though so may pop things down on here when i can get things into some sort of order myself?

Well i gave myself far too much to do today and lesson learned it has all not been achieved :o

I would have gotten further if i wasn't sat here typing out a completely new CV. Yes i am - well i'm typing a bit, then coming on here as a reward and then doing a bit more. I can't do it all in one go :o i'll get the bones of it down and go over it again tomorrow and then send off and then carry on spending a bit of time each day improving my cv until it is right. I don't want to wait too long to apply for the jobs in case the positions are filled quickly and at least i will have sent something in. I *do* worry too much about things being perfect :o

Ok so what did i want to update everyone on ?

Oh yes - i closed the account with the big overdraft facility :T So that will soon update on my credit file which can only be a good thing.

Today i chased a complaint and they'll be responding to me by the end of the week *note to self to chase again next week if no response*

I have also been writing out another complaint but got sidetracked by the jobs. I'll get this one posted off tomorrow.

I must sound like i moan about everything but complaint 1 was a product which was not as it should have been and i had paid money for it so awaiting that being resolved - been well over a month now.

Complaint 2 was horrendous service which i normally just accept but i have decided to complain this time.

I've chased some money i am due £50 - it'll be here in 2 weeks. I have done some other things too but they won't be of interest to anyone really

Right enough skiving off to work a bit more on my cv and then i'll be back ;)

I would have thought that key achievements per your most recent jobs are fine.

Maybe in your personal profile you could put some of the more generic ones that apply to all or most of the jobs you have done, things like computer skills, customer service or things like that.

Have you seen Memory Girl's Matrix threads on here? I bet there is someone on there who could give some good advice on CVs.

Thanks jwil - yes i was on one of the original MG threads but i couldn't keep up in the end with everything moving so fast :o I do pop in now and again :)

I should clarify i still have 2 overdrafts 1 i paid off and is 0% and the one i live in - the other one was quite a high amount and incurred interest if used and now i definitely can't use it - am both :) and

I have actually just about done my cv and have already done what you said in your advice - great minds and all that eh? ;) I had missed off customer service skills so popped that in :D

Will also just say for anyone reading who doesn't know - for lots of reasons i;ve been suffering low self-esteem so to do my cv is pretty hard for me with my lack of confidence :o

I've not finished my complaint as my cv took priority. But the complaint doesn't need to be perfect so will read over and send tomorrow as i've pretty much covered the bit i wanted to - except for saying what i really think about them and their service - unprintable and won't do my complaint any good either :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

And what i've been meaning to say and can't remember if i did :o is that i still need to try on those clothes i bought last week - so a little reminder to myself to get on with this.

Will probably keep the coat mind - it fits, is warm, smart and a classic cut, lovely material and colour so will last years and at £10 a real bargain :)

but its far too late in the day to make a proper decision :rotfl:

    Hi everyone :D

Had to come on for a breather - feel all under pressure 'to get things done' so definitely best for me to wait until later to e-mail my cvs as of course its not just e-mailing them but doing that introductory letter too :o and it'll be no good doing that whilst i'm all of a jitter and about to rush out the door too

So i;ve printed off my complaint ready to post - read it and got a word wrong - just the wrong word to put but i'm not wasting precious ink on printing it again for the sake of 1 word so it will do.

I've parcelled up some envelopes as i promised pippi and they should have gone yesterday - oops :o

    i've parcelled up a little eb*y sale too :)

I've tweaked with my cv - and then changed it back again :eek: so i'm going to leave it as it is - what does everyone think - if after sending it to 5 different places i get no response change it ?? the thing is as i'm applying for jobs based solely on what i'd rather do and transferable skills rather than carrying on in the industry i'm in it might be harder for me to get a response - we will see eh ?

Still getting a cv together i'm more or less happy with is in itself an achievement :T

Checked again for any suitable jobs to apply for - none - will check again later.

Doesn't actually sound like much does it and i've not actually stopped all day

Sounds like you've been busy DDFW :T

If you don't get offered anything through the CV you could always ask for feedback from the companies to say why they didn't go for you.

    Have a good day :)

    Hey everyone :)

I've sort of been trying to do something towards being debt free every day and have decided i should pop a little update on here just to confirm what i have done :D So i will re-introduce

    Money News
    • i re-listed all my unsold 99p items
    • i stocked up on a product that is pricey and we need it very regularly from shopping - it was half price so that was good and will continue to save me money over the long-term :)
    • i enjoyed a reduced price item for tea rather than the £2.50 i was going to have to spend for what i *really, really* wanted :o
    • i sold a few bits on the bay of e today from last weeks listing so thats good
    • i have had some cashback track - now i just need them to start paying out - i'm waiting of over £100
Not too bad i don't think
