a lot of the "bulls*it" you refer to comes from very new posters on the site. It does surprise me, more than a little, that these people seem to be capable of signing up to this site but are incapable of doing a search on Google or MSE - which in the vast majority of cases will produce the answer that is required.
I could give you a long list of subjects that crop up on an almost daily basis ...................

When you have been a regular contributor to this site for some time it does become very difficult at times NOT to tell some of the new posters "not to be so stupid/helpless" with their posts.

I admit myself to being a bit short at times - but it becomes very difficult when the same question is asked time after time, you then post a link to another site with the answer (because you have got sick and tired of repeatedly typing the same answer out), THEN the OP in that thread comes back with a supplementary question which makes it blatantly obvious that they have not even bothered to look at the link which you posted to help them.

It's certainly not a case of people with lots of posts thinking they "own" the site - perhaps it is just good, old fashioned, experience !!

I've been posting on here for a while too, and I've noticed a trend towards very negative and unhelpful comments.
Of course some new posters are ignorant, that's largely why they're here. You do often have to wade through sarcastic and smug comments (which I called bullsh*t) to get to the good advice. That's all, I wasn't specifying anyone, although the reaction fully justified my comment.

it's not the question she asked was it

you all questioned why she got a card in the first place, but she didnt ask about how she qualified

just answer the question, dont accuse someone of lying on their application with so little information

and cheers for the insult, i havent heard that one for ages
    :)

Well it was obvious we were going to question her, coming on here saying she has never had a credit card before and earns 4k a year and then get accepted for a platinum card,as most of us know that makes her not eligible for that card that was all.

Then all of a sudden you come on here saying its minefield bullsh*t

Sorry to butt in, I see where you're coming from, but; the answers I recieved to my question for example, dont exactly give a good impression to a new member, and quite frankly would probably put most people off ever posting again.

I did search google before posting here, but didnt have much luck finding anything relevant. I thought this would be the best place to ask.

You must admit with your post it did smell a little fishy especially as you were on here yesterday morning wanting an I MAC,then suddenly your excepted for a platinum card with your wage and no credit history, which some people with excellent credit history and credit reports often get declined for.

Well I had no idea that particular card was such a difficult one to get. Its probably a different one they've accepted me for. And yeah I'm gonna buy a macbook, I dont see whats so fishy about that.

The thing was that you included a salary figure. Which most people would wait to be asked when asking a question.

With the internet the wonderful, if you say that, thing is that there are so many people that live in fantasy land. They think they are the best and even search the internet looking for the fancy credit cards. In real life only a few get the top cards and rates. Some of the time the people that post will never get the cards.

So all of a sudden you are getting a platinum credit card on 4K and telling everyone that.

I hope you get your card and the computer you value so much....hopefully good old BC will give you a high enough limit.

Well as I said, i didnt know that particular card was anything special, to me a credit card is a credit card, its a piece of plastic! If its a fancy one of not I dont care.

The reason I included my salary is because I thought that would have some impact on the credit limit.

I accept that I wont be getting that card, looking again at the website its probably the initial card they accepted me for.

If it's the Initial Card Clare, you're very unlikey to get a credit limit to enable you to buy that laptop.....you'll normally start on a limit of between £250 and £400 :-)

That's good :) its a really bad idea for me to put a £850 laptop on a credit card anyway lol! I'll stick to good old saving up.
