You might be right about the puppy. I think its not great that she doesn't, for whatever reason. Last time we went round for coffee we didn't actually get any, and the last visit (2 nights in a premier inn) cost £500 because they insist on eating out, basically every meal.

I shall have to employ some of your tactics, when we have stayed with MIL, I tried to make sandwiches for the return journey and I wasn't allowed to, basically, even though it was food we had bought specially for the purpose. Anyway I should be careful what I say, but you can maybe see why she's not the easiest of people.

She's going in for an exploratory op tomorrow and then chemotherapy, and DH seems fairly confident that that is now the situation. Been praying like mad as she's elderly and very thin, maybe that's a good thing? being thin I mean, but its a worry that even a little op could affect her badly.

Just read back, and realised ...chess/puppy? chess/puppy? I know who wins that one!!

Oh GFH, I'm sorry to read all this. I don't know how old your children are but is there anyone who can pop by and look after them while you get some sleep? This is a hugely stressful time without the added hormones of pregnancy so please look after yourself.

What about fish and chips for tea? A sick day tomorrow?

    Thinking of you :A

  • Thanks, courgette. Now DH is home and I've disposed of the hideous ex for another month (contact) and I've worked like a dog all day I feel loads better.

DDs have clean ironed clothes to last a fortnight, the washing up is done, I've dusted and hoovered the dining room and done all the washing. I've also done the finances up to date.

Phew! I have not been hugely rational this weekend...DH has been discussing with his Mum coming to visit at Feb half term (four weeks til due date and new puppy just brought home) despite my saying "please can we have a discussion before you make any plans", but I think I have had a cunning plan to avoid that week, since it would be very trying.

Anyway much better for her to come after the baby is born, since it will be her 4th grandchild.

Blimey you have been busy this weekend.

Strange how they dont feel like they can feed you! I sort of get that when I visit my mum an hour away and we end up going to the chippy, although she pays mostly. Sometimes I pay but there are 5 adults and 2 kids, it not cheap! I never understand how some people can act. Maybe she thinks coming before the baby will be a help rather than a hinderance :o

Hey GFH news re MIL sounds a bit less dramatic KWIM. It could be OH though discussing half term visit with his mum somehow was a good thing as it ignores the impending op and chemo. A bit of look to the future etc etc

  • Pammy MIL would feed us, and SIL will feed DH, just not the rest of us IYSWIM. Its weird coming from a family where my folks would do pretty much anything for pretty much anyone.

LP yeah I think you're right really. I think my meltdown is over...hope so...

Anyway I have a pre-school bill to pay today £52, spent £30 on ponies for the girls' advent calendar (!) and my car is just limping along now, it goes to 4000 revs when I change gear. Not good.

Going to look at another one on Sat if its still there.

Other news is Dad looked up our field on the tithe map from 1842, and we know it's name, its called "Golden Graze" how sweet is that? It would be dead naff if we made it up, but its been called that for 150 odd years, so its ok!!

  • Well no bad news today so that has to be good news. My neighbour and friend is continuing to teach DD2 piano for free. She is an amazing teacher, and originally we swapped piano for A level Chem lessons, but her DD is now at uni and she still continues.

So kind and we are so lucky, will have to get them both fabby Christmas presents.

  • Nothing happening with MIL until tomorrow, hosp charge 50p a minute to phone in, not out, that's extortion to my mind.

DD2 is poorly again, she only just got over the last illness.

But...Dad has said he will fit the new-to-us carpet in the bathroom tomorrow, so better clean it! I don't much like carpet in the bathroom but its a stop gap over bare floorboards.

  • Right, I have got credit cards to the value of £15800, insanity! Will maybe probably buy a new-to-us car at the weekend. Mine is jiggered.
Does that mean I have to rebrand myself as DFW? Still its all debt, mortgage included.

Gave the bathroom a going over so I don't then clean it over a newish carpet.

  • Today my mission is to convince people that scarlet and purple look great together and that I didn't get dressed in the dark.

Spent £7.50 on DD1's school trip last night, but couldn't pay the pre-school bill as have lost it. Made a biggish Mr S order since we have snow predicted, ooh!
