  • Oh well, I'm about to find out.

Unbelievably, we have won the lottery twice in one week. Only a tenner each time, but still...
Everyone is exhausted today and staggering to the weekend. DD1 is ill, AGAIN. Mum is ill with the same thing. Ho hum.

This evening we have to clear the decks for weekend floor stripping, hope the result is worth it.
£90 on groceries spent, but will save another fiver in petrol tomorrow, so that's £15 this week.

  • hi there gratefulfor help well done on the lottery wins!! :)
sorry the troops are ill...hope they are on the mend soon
  • Hello youngone thanks, it is madness in the grateful house at the moment, and last night I pressed the sunroof button instead of the window button, and the motor has broken, so now my sunroof is stuck open.

Brrrr! And soggy. The day can only improve.

  • I once had a leaky sunroof and realised at early hours of the morning when i sat on the drivers seat to drive to work and ended up with a soggy bottom. I had to change and then sit on a carrier bag all the way to work for 45 minutes. Crunchy. ;)

Hopefully you can get that one sorted quickly before further problems. Expensive week for you.

EEEwww wet bottom ready for work, just what you don't want! I don't think I'll bother, my brother might fix it for me if I get a motor off ebay, but is it worth it???

Will just have to pretend I'm the Dukes of Hazzard for a while.

eta I've found some on ebay...

  • Quick update, been in an hotel all weekend in Daventry where they charged £15 for 24 hrs broadband access!

Name and shame! Barcelo hotel Daventry.

Also we got there having ordered a family room for four people and there were two beds. They said that was how they did family rooms...

Daventry is a pretty little market town in lovely countryside, decidedly closed on a Sunday, pretty much every shop. Nice friendly people.

Ebac a big thumbs up to them, they collected and fixed and returned our dehumidifier (2 year warranty) within a week and just as they said they would. Bravo! Ebac.

Everything in our house upstairs is in our bedroom, floors are stripped and sanded, and on their way to being waxed. Beautiful empty rooms make me realise I must be careful what junk goes back in, a decluttering opportunity, methinks.

My fabulous brother has fixed my sunroof, so I can't open it by mistake any more and it is closed. One of the cables has gone, apparently. Yay! I won't be driving around in a swamp.

Will not be back in too much to update, no broadband at home, as can't plug in the hub or it would get floor wax on it.

Managed to spend only £30 at the weekend, so not too too bad.

Off with a throat infection that has got the better of my voice today. Frankly its the same thing I've been fighting for about a fortnight, but I'm hoarse as anything.

Went for baby scan yesterday and all well, Thank God. They couldn't tell if a boy or a girl, so its a mystery. It's getting a pink and orange buggy no matter what, though. So far no pounds and no pence spent on baby. £300 so far spent on floors upstairs, though, and at least twice that much when its done. Spent money on hosp car park yesterday and DH's script, and today £17 on school swimming lessons.

MIL it seems, does not have advanced cancer, so why oh why SIL had to tell her she was on her last legs is beyond me. Now they think she has a heart problem, but no evidence appears forthcoming as to what, if anything. Good news, though!

Going to check out credit cards today, and the possibility of a new motor, well, new to me!

    eta Groceries £252/£450 and petrol/diesel £246/£350...

Well I've just applied for and been offered credit cards with a combined limit of 10k. This is not really what I was looking for, but will see what I can do.

Online shopping done, with an eye on the bill.

Floors upstairs are completed, not dry yet, but look fabulous! Can't wait to get it all straight again.

eta bit of a result, final bill for floors has come in and we have done it for about 35% of the original quote, yay!

Hi GFH, glad the scan went well!!!:j

I've been creating spreadsheets to total up DS's Christmas Wish List across 5 stores online...been a bit fun...He had 18 items on the list bless him (he's only 6) and half of those I had to worm out of him. So he's getting about 10 of them!
    2024 Challenges
    • Grocery Budget (January £0/£300)
    • Decluttering (Underway!)
    • Frugal Living (January £0/£500
    • 24 in 2024 (0/24)
  • Thanks nellis that's organised of you. Still trying to get DDs to do Christmas lists, at the weekend they played with an outdoor chess set, and we figured we could paint up the back yard as a chess board, we even have the paint already.

We will also have to visit utterly-mad-about-little-baby-pony websites as that's really all they're interested in.

BTW it has occurred to me that the chess weekends are very much like Monsters Inc. There are only two females, and one of them looks like a slug, everyone is liberally sprayed with odourant, and if they see a child they all have a major panic attack.
