Thats the thing though, the walls are fine we only have the sheets and matresses - which makes me wonder if its the matress not the house?

Yep, sick of worrying how we'll meet the bills to the end of the month. AND my salary is going down by about 4% next month.

The garage we're getting the car from have done all the work to it without question, even the clutch which we thought needed tightening they've just replaced it instead, and 2 tyres as well which we didn't think we could realistically asked them to do. All in all chuffed to bits by their service (in fact, they've thrown a service and MOT on it too) and the car comes with a 1 year warranty too. If its as kosher as it seems I can see me buying all our future cars from there.

I really feel for you - I feel like every time we start to make head way, something comes up and knocks us back to square one. I'm so tempted to just bury my head in the sand and flex the plastic until after Christmas, but I know that's not the answer!

Just remember you're only human Dinah and you're doing a bl00dy marvellous job at becoming DF. How come your salary is going down?

At least the car deal sounds good!

How exciting about your bump starting to show Wendz :j

  • My OH Sister asked us to get my Neice a Pink TV DVD Combi for Christmas...... considering the cost of them (cheapest I can find is £109.99) I think she is being really cheakky (neice is only 2!!).

A lady on EBay is selling the older shape Pink TV/DVD combi (she says full working order, no marks or scratches, looks new) for £30........... do you think its wrong to buy a second hand Xmas present????????? I would ask for a demo before buying to check it does work properly.

We did so well with all our other presents and we came in under budget but I am still not paying £109.99 for a 2 year oldd TV ...........

I’m back and more determined than ever!!!!!

Why the drop in pay Dinah? Is this the travel allowance thing that's being stopped? Or did I imagine that...?

Were your mattresses stored somewhere cold/damp before you moved into the house?

The garage you're getting your car from sounds like they're treating you well, very impressive customer care!

Errrr I'd probably scrap the idea completely and buy the niece something that'll encourage activity rather than enabling laziness! What does a 2 year old want with a TV?!

I probably wouldn't buy a 2nd hand TV as a present because some people can be funny about getting things like that with no packaging or warrantee etc. It wouldn't bother me but you never know how people will react!

  • Tasha I think that's REALLY cheeky! Get her a lump of coal and a tangerine :D

(EDIT - really cheeky of her to ask for such an expensive present, not of you to think about a second hand one!)

Nice to hear from you Dippy, I hope you hear about the job soon! What work have you been doing?

Thanks for the warm wishes, Birdie (and poddle too!)

I've been doing the website content for a women's charity in town. The website is all but done now, just tying up the loose ends. I found out today that I can start tomorrow as Marketing Officer (sounds much fancier than what it is!).

Drop in pay is because they've taken the car allowance off us. I can understand the need to cut costs, but on a personal level loosing £80 a month is quite a big hit right now.

The worst matress was stored at my grandads, who is away for weeks at a time, don't know if he has the heating on when he's away, doubt it tbh. The other one was definately fine, its my own one from my parents house.

On the TV - Jesus! What the hell does a 2 year old need a telly for?! She shouldn't be on her own watching tv she should be downstairs playing. I hate it when kids have tvs in their rooms as they just migrate to the different corners of the house and miss out on family life. And it's a ridiculous price too. At her age I bet she'd rather have something to play with anyway.
