Thanks :D Nothing is official yet but I'll let you all know when it is.

Aw, I'm sure you'll get to grips with it soon. You're good at breaking big challenges down into more manageable mini tasks so once you can start ticking a few off, it should be less daunting (fingers crossed)! Even if you didn't quite get there, you'll have knocked a lot off the total :D

I feel the exact same Dinah. We have had a lot of bills this month, including unforseen bills for the flat we own in Scotland. It sucks doesn't it :(

Thanks for the nice words about the job, I'm hoping that I'll hear something good soon! I was sulking to myself about it all weekend and now I'm back at work so I suppose I just have to get on with it!

OH had a fantastic Stag weekend; I picked him up from the train station yesterday and he was looking surprisingly chipper in his bright yellow t-shirt with 'Mr Birdie's Stag Weekend' on, we went to see Harry Potter straight after I collected him and he clung onto my hand all the way through, think he missed me a bit! Awww. (Harry was very average though, when I read the book I remember not enjoying the first half of it because it's pretty boring... then they made a film about it!) The guy who organised the party did a brilliant job, sorted out t-shirts for everyone, got OH an awful rubber stag head mask to wear at the rugby and the other boys wore masks with OH's face on! He showed me a picture from the rugby and it was so odd, OH's a handsome chap (of course I'd say that!) but I don't want to see 8 of him!

On Saturday I went out with some friends and ended up at an 18th birthday party for one of the friend's friends (if that makes sense!). I felt so old! All these 16/17/18 year olds made me feel dreadful, I was taller than a scary amount of the boys there, I'd forgotten just how much growing a lot of boys still have to do at that age! It was in a bar so they were being quite strict with ID because a lot of the kids there were underage, one friend went up to get some drinks and came back saying we had to show our ID at the bar to prove she wasn't getting booze for young-uns, we walked over and the bar lady said, 'Oh you're clearly old enough, I don't need to see your ID!'. Thanks very much!

Nice to hear from you Dippy, I hope you hear about the job soon! What work have you been doing?

Dinah, try to see this as a 'down' month, you ever know, next month will be an 'up' month! Some months will be super for money making and bill dodging, overs less so! Sorry to hear about the mould problem, we've got issues too. Our bedroom walls really need washing down again because there's mould on them. We really need to get some of that anti-mould paint on the walls but we hate DIY so keep conveniently forgetting to get the paint to do the job! I hate the foisty smell on everything, we've got moisture absorbing thingies everywhere but I think we're going to have to get a proper de-humidifier. I'm sick of pulling shoes out of the wardrobe when I haven't worn them for ages to find mould on them! Ick!

I've made some headway on SIL's 'chocolate' hamper, I've got chocolate hand lotion, 'fudge' bath fizzers, cocoa butter body lotion, nighties with cupcakes on, undies with sweets on, Coca Cola 'vanilla lip smackers' lip balm and I've seen a nice range in Boots called 'Sweet Treats Boutique' (or something...) that has nice smellies and a sponge that looks like a cake so I'm going to get my Mum to use her discount to get it! I went into Lush for the first time ever thinking they might have something nice, but had to leave after a couple of minutes because it was too much for me! There was a girl trying to help me and she kept giving me bath bombs to sniff but all I could smell was.... well, everything, so I had no idea, and I got the stuff all over my hands, ick ick ick, far too stinky for me I'm afraid! I'm sure the stuff is lovely but I think I'll have to order online in future!

ETA: Whoah that's a big post! Sorry!

hello all! hope everyone's had a good weekend :)

I had a low key but lovely weekend celebrating my (29th) birthday and feel strangely excited and - to use a Tete word - 'zen' about the next year as I hurtle towards my 30s!

Sorry to hear about the job, Birdie, but it sounds like a very positive outcome, despite not getting it. Fingers crossed that something does come up in December! I know how frustrating it is though. I finally got some feedback on the job I went for last month - they actually said that I couldn't have changed anything and they would have happily offered me a position but the job wasn't right for me, but I should definitely apply 'when' something at the right level comes up. It's reassuring and I'm fairly sure not just a brush off!

Glad Mr Birdie had a fab stag weekend! It's a shame that yours is proving stressful, Birdie. I do agree that some of your hens have legitimate reasons for not wanting to shell out for a hotel, but you're only going to do this once, so I think you're allowed to be a little bit bridezilla about the pink limo etc :D

Urgh, I definitely wouldn't fancy an 18th birthday party!

Sorry to hear about the mould problem Dinah - horrid! How much is a dehumidifier? Sounds like you could definitely do with one sooner rather than later! How are you getting on with your mammoth to-do list?

Well done DK on 'possible' job - volunteering is such a worthwhile thing to do, but even better if you get a job at the end of it! Fingers crossed.

Wow, another long post, best do some work! Happy Monday!

I've been thinking about your damp problem, I think the fact your heating is on high is making things worse. When we first moved into our old house we had a similar problem, there was no air flow and too much insulation in the loft as well as some problem with wall insulation.

With the heating on you are drawing the damp into the house.

Another to do list where we didn't stop yet seems like hardly anything got done!

The garage we're getting the car from have done all the work to it without question, even the clutch which we thought needed tightening they've just replaced it instead, and 2 tyres as well which we didn't think we could realistically asked them to do. All in all chuffed to bits by their service (in fact, they've thrown a service and MOT on it too) and the car comes with a 1 year warranty too. If its as kosher as it seems I can see me buying all our future cars from there.

    Hi everyone,

Birdie - glad your OH had a fab weekend. I went to an 18th birthday a while back and felt so old, they were all snogging each other haha. They were also incredibly hyper.

I have found those cleaning wipes you get good for getting mould off walls.

Everyone is starting to comment by bump is getting bigger, don't think I notice it as is with me all the time!
