Wish I could help with pricing CMD! My Brother has the same list for his house, and he thinks it's going to cost him about 10k+ to get it all done and part furnished. Does sound promising though, and like you had a lovely weekend!
And thanks everyoneI know he'll be totally fine. He's offically started now so he best be! Hope your OH is doing well in his new job Poddle, and enjoying it!
And Birdie, taking them all out for a big meal is the least I can do! If we didn't need the money for things I'd have just done the same, and then donated the rest to charity. Me and my Sister were saying the other night how amazing it would be to win massive on the lottery, you know when you're getting like 12k a day in interest? You could do so much amazingness daily with just the interest, like massive random donations to local charites. Or helping old people with fuel bills over Winter so they don't freeze, setting people up with new lives after they've fallen on really rough times. But I'll never win big on the lottery, I only get tickets from Nanan for my Birthday!
I think we might be onto something with these Road Trips of Doom! Although I might have to just do the driving and wait in the car, my only form of attacks are playground ones. Camel bites, chinese burns or tickle bombs.0 -
10k sounds very reasonable. My OH and father (who admittedly don't know anything about doing up an old property) reckoned you would have to pump in between €50-80,000 to get the place looking right. I think you would have to pay that money to make any major structural changes. However, I would just be making the most of what was there and leave any bi-folding doors etc for my forever home!!!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

I hear you about the lottery Cinny! If I won Euromillions I would pay off my family and friends mortgages 1 by 1 (but make them sign a confidentiality clause) and I would set up some initiatives in Ireland (probably the disability and elderly sector) and oversee them on a part-time basis.
Then I would have a house in Dublin, Galway, Brighton, Barcelona, Portugal (somewhere). Lol!!!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

I'd love to win big for the same reason, we'd buy a whole street of houses and give them to our friends to live in rent free, we'd donate loads to OH's rugby club so they can get all the stuff they've been after for years, we'd support all our local charities and still have plenty to live off. Must remember to buy a Euromillions ticket tonight!I think we might be onto something with these Road Trips of Doom! Don't undersell your skillset, camel bites and chines burns hurt!I'm a bit useless on the attacking front too, I'm far too weak and the minute someone touches me I go into the foetal position! :rotfl: I'm really good at standing behind someone and saying 'YEAH' to all the tough sounding stuff they say though!

I love the idea of buying a street of houses! Or houses dotted everywhere. If only we all were rich. Though I'd no doubt still be coming on here for baaaargains. As my Grandad always says, the rich are only rich because they don't spend it. Mmhmmm!0 -
Ohhh don't talk about the Lottery, I've been fantasising about that a lot lately! I think first and foremost I'd take myself off on a Buddhist retreat for a few weeks and try and find inner peace. I'd buy myself a little slate house in Grasmere and just walk the fells
(And give to charity and my friends blah blah - goes without saying!)

Morning all,
Glad you had a good weekend in Ireland CMD, the house does sound like a good project and lovely it has history for your family.
Cinny - you are so lovely and generous. Will be great for you to sort house too and not worry about money for a while.
Had a nice weekend. Had two uni friends come visit sat and then my mum and sis came yesterday and mum bought us lunch at the pub.0 -

It's true! Some people I work with submit £3k+ of invoices every month (and that's not the only work they do) and still they quibble little amounts such as £3 parking charges and things - no wonder they all live in massive houses in the country and drive Audi TTs - and all for waffling on a bit to people to make them "reflect on their role"!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
