My OH only has to look out the window at the sun and he looks like a lobster :rotfl: poor thing. He slaps on factor 50 and it does nothing for him, he suffers terribly in the heat, I think hes secretly pleased that we cant go abroad this year :rotfl:
I like the sound of this guy, reminds me of me.This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.:j:j:j:j0 -

LOL, sounds like the voice of experience there!
I'm a burner too, OH and I go through so much sun cream when we're, SPF50 for really burny bits and SPF30-40 everywhere else. We reapply at least once an hour too! The first time we went to the Dominican we got talking to a guy who was super tanned and he told us off for being too careful and still being really pale after 10 days (the staff kept asking us if we'd just arrived and were shocked to know that we were getting towards the end of the holiday!) and suggested that we lay off the suncream and give it a little longer between applications. One day I did (kind of by accident, just forgot for some reason) and got burnt... I stormed up to this guy and showed him my red patches and said, 'That's why we're addicted to our SPF40!!!!'
Just think, all of us pale folk who slap on the suncream will have fabby skin when we're older because we've looked after it! I do not want to look like a leather handbag when I'm 50!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Tete_en_l'Air wrote: »Hi all!! WE DID IT!!! :j I have now climbed the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales!! Sadly not in 24 hours, one girl really hurt her knee and it took us 3 hours 15 mins to come down from Ben Nevis (after only taking three hours to get up, we were on target for the five hours we needed to do it in), and because we had a stoopid 60mph limited minibus there was no way we'd be able to make up the time. Once we knew we wouldn't hit the 24 hours we relaxed into it a bit and it ended up taking more like 28, but I'm not bothered in the slightest, just to have done it is amazing!
I really felt for injured-knee-girl, she was so disappointed to miss out on the other two and she'd been so looking forward to it. I'd have felt gutted too after all the build up, if it had happened to me I'd have in the back of mind "But I have to do it SOME day!!" whereas at least now I can say NEVER AGAIN!! I'm not THAT achey today, I feel like I've climbed a mountain but not necessarily three! Have the hugest blister on my foot though and it really hurts.
It is a massive, massive mental challenge, I really struggled up Snowdon (the last one), it was such a huge effort to just put one foot in front of the other - sounds sort of stupid and unless you've done something like that - run a marathon or something - you probably wouldn't understand, but the girls really rallied round and practically pushed me up to the top. I'd underestimated Snowdon - everyone kept saying how it's the smallest of the three (it's not, but in terms of how high you have to climb it's smaller than Scafell Pike), and how the first (and consequently last) 4km is flat and I had it my head as a sort of leg-stratching session after the other two - my own fault, lack of mental preparation.
Sorry verbal diarrhoea there, just wanted to tell you all about it - here's a pic of us on top of Ben Nevis - I'm just above the "great" on the banner - this was the only peak which was not fully covered in cloud and lashing with rain! (Nope, having real trouble with the picture! It's on FB anyway and I think I'm friends with most of you!)
Thanks again for all your sponsorships - very generous and much appreciated, was so nice to think of everyone back in the real world rooting for us
Now, Birdie I'm loving the idea of the hot chocolate and snowflake theme - I'm bridesmaid for my cousin on 22nd December and she's not doing anything really to tie it in with Christmas and I think she's missing a trick, they're having it at Wynyard which was one of Dinah's venue options and I think it'll look fantastic with their decs but I think she's going for ordinary flowers etc instead.
Cinny, hope your Grandad feels better soon, it's horrible when you can see your family members ageing almost in front of your eyes. Make sure you take care of your Granny too.
Hope you managed to get lots of work done Dinah - what's happening with the launch?
Well done Tete! Fantastic achievement and a great cause. I know how you feel with the knackered but thank god it's over - I did gold DofE which was 86 miles along the dales over 5 days carrying just over 20kg on my back (and I only weighed 48kg at the time!!!) and when I came over the last hill and we could all see the car park where our parents were to pick us up we just burst out crying. Still count it as the most challenging but rewarding thing I've ever done.
Launch date, think I've decided to aim for mid august when I come back from France, as it would be difficult to launch before then. Still having a right headache with packaging and finalising which designs are agreed upon.Saw the tight friend on Saturday and she asked if we're going to her BBQ, I told her that we couldn't afford it and she was a bit surprised and said, 'But we're not going out', 'Ah yes but we can't afford to buy all of the beer, wine and meat expected of us so we're just going to give it a miss'She later said that if we want to come and not bring anything that'll be fine but I told her that 'I couldn't just turn up to a party empty handed, how rude!!!' Teehee
Lol nicely played Birdie - have your other friends said the same to her? Are things really tight in their house or are they just tight people?Dinah, how did tapas with your brother and his girlfriend go?
Quite well, she is easier to talk to in a smaller setting. She's quite a sweet girl really, I guess maybe just lacking in confidence? The tapas itself didn't go quite as hoped, none of them were exceptional which I was hoping for considering it cost us £60! Should have just done us all steak and chips and it would have cost half the price!
Cinny, lost your quote but glad to hear your grandad is on the mend. Maybe it is just the heat getting to him on top of getting used to the new medication.
I'm not actually too bad today in the heat, but I wouldn't fancy it with a big bump! I seem to remember hearing pregnancy raises your body temp anyway?
Is anyone a closet maths geek? I'm trying to work out a probability and its driving me mad. I'm wondering if it's binomial probability I need to use ie if something has a 1 in 5 chance of occuring you use the 4 in 5 chance of not occuring to calculate the chance ie if there is a 20% chance of getting stuck in traffic on any given day, what is the probability over 3 days I would get stuck in traffic? NIM thinks its about 0.35 but I think its 0.512 (0.8x0.8x0.8)... would anyone like to answer my brain teaser of the day and stop me going mad?!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Alright alright I get it, my skin is medically broken, sheesh, no need to rub it in like :rotfl:
Whats upsetting is that the devil woman and my brother jsut go brown at the mention of the word sun. Think I got my dads skin.
What??? I just called myself an old boot. That's way worse than saying you have sensitive skin!
My Dad and sister go really brown in the sun and when they are abroad get mistaken for locals!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Yeah, we're stroooooooooooong! I like that bit at the beginning when she's introducing her 'girls' and says that you can look like Natalie in no time, but then she says "Sure!" in a way which makes it sound more like "HA! AS IF, FATTY!"
Haha, she does!
Congratulations Tete!
I'm so chuffed for you! Well done! :T
I'm glad you said something to your tight friends Birdie, I bet it felt good!
So glad to hear your Grandad is feeling better Cinny, I know exactly how you feel (I live with my Grandparents and it's hard sometimes seeing them seem so old)

Ooh I did something similar to your DOE Dinah, but it was with the scouts. I had to walk 200k in 10 days in the blistering heat in Slovenia in the middle of July in 1997.
We were in groups of 2 and were dropped in the middle of nowhere and had to use the map to map out 200k back to base camp and we could only use back roads. We also had to do projects along the way and had to carry our tents and rucksacks. We were given £60 between 2 of us for 10 days and had to survive on that (inc accommodation and food). We came back with £52 as we stayed in locals houses or gardens 9 nights out of the 10 and they also gave us food.
Until I gave birth I counted that as the most rewarding thing I had ever done but 17 hours of solid labour defo comes out trumps!!!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

That sounds properly hardcore CMD! We weren't allowed to use roads but at least we had the route planned in advance! My brother did it too and his lot got a minibus to carry their packs and they were allowed to buy food at the local shops whereas we had to carry it.
I'm just counting on never having to go through labour, it's the only way I can face having chilren as I'm a complete and utter wuss!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Looking back I suppose it was. We didn't have any mobiles or anything. It probably wouldn't be allowed now as we were only 20!
Well my dear, if you want to have kids of your own you might just have to go through labour, unless you book yourself into a posh hospital and choose an elective c-section!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Cinny - amazingly she did her best stint ever of 7 hours without waking last night. Although i think it may be the heat as looking on baby forum looks like lots of babies slept a long time. Our room isn't that hot though , was 22 degrees last night, normally its about 19.
Flower - must be hard being pregnant in the warm. The few weeks before i had Poppy it got quite warm and my ankles were so swolen yuck.
CMD - i will have to get one of those shade things then and get sunbathing! Meant to say to you the holiday pics look fab and the bump is lovely!
Dinah and NIM - glad the dinner with the brothers gf went well, sounds like she might just be a bit shy bless her.
I think labour is definately a challenge but i would do it again...am i mad?0 -

Thanks Wendz. I prefer this bump to Max's one. It is more designer. ha ha!
Is that you getting broody saying you would like to go through labour again?
I get really really broody when Max was about 5 months old. It was like an uncontrollable urge!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947
