Anyways, I have a little news! Not in the way of secretly getting married, having a baby or deciding to become a chair.
:rotfl:
Great news about the cleaning business, should suit you perfectly! Make sure you read the OS board for cleaning tips on the cheap!
Shame about the chickens moving... maybe your cheerful clucking was insulting in chicken language so they took the hump and left?! If there's a pirate ship in the garden I'd be tempted to start talking pirate on the way past!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -

Where is everyone?!!
And thanksI am really quite excited. If I can just get a few regular weekly people I'll be perfectly happy. Plus I get to wear peach!
Had a leaflet through the door last night. About the Asda they're wanting to build across from the pit houses. Just for some meetings they're having this week, think I'll drag OH to the Friday oneJust to see the mood of everyone else about it. OH is for it as it's going to bring 80+ jobs. I'm a little 50/50 as I feel bad for the shop owners on the village strip that feel threatened. Not that they need to be, Asda can no way compete with their prices or the quality. Not like any of this matters, I don't even get why they're holding the meetings. If the whole place turned up and said 'No, we don't want it' it wouldn't change a thing!

Cinny, where are you based again?
And believe it or not Asda are more likely to listen than some of the "home grown" supermarkets, Mr S REALLY doesnt care what locals think. This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.:j:j:j:j0 -
I think those meetings are more of a promotional thing... they might not listen to you saying you don't want it but they will convince you that you *need* it!
Have you got a little peachy uniform to wear for cleaning?! You going to get your name embroidered on it? Piccies!
Do you guys remember our awkward friends who told us off for not contributing to their shopping when they asked us round for a BBQ ages ago and the masses of meat we'd turned up with wasn't enough for her? They've invited us to parties since and the invite always states 'Bring a Bottle' on it... which is annoying and rude and TBH I'm surprised their wedding invites didn't have it on! They've just invited us to theirs in a couple of weeks time for a birthday bbq and once again the invite says 'bring meat and booze'... I have half a mind to tell them that the reason none of us want to go round to their house anymore is this demand for food and drink every time they throw a party. We always bring wine and beer if someone is having a party and we bring food to BBQs, it's only polite but to be asked for it is rude, isn't it?! We're having a party in September for OH's birthday and as always we'll provide more than enough food and drink for everyone since we're the hosts and it's our job... and these friends will most likely turn up late and empty handed then they'll drink what everyone else has provided! We really don't want to go and I think we'll find a way of getting out of it but how much trouble do you think I'll get into if I tell them what I think of the wording on their invitations?!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -

That's what I'm thinking. I can understand that it might bring new people into the village. As honestly the place is so passable you don't really come through it unless you're coming to it. If that makes any sense! I dunno, I guess we'll see when it's built. I just hope over everything else it comes with bottle banks, we don't have any!
No uniform yet, but that's what I'm after. PeachI never wear it, it's a good excuse!
Ugh. Those friends do sound pretty rude/cheeky! If I were you I'd either say it straight, or turn up with one of those dinky bottles of wine/travel sized booze and a £1 box of birdseyePeople tend to bring a little extra booze, or maybe an extra pud anyways. What's the point on having people over for food, if you don't actually want to share your food?!

Hi all, ooh how exciting about the businesses Dinah and Cinny - best of luck! Shame you don't live a bit closer Cinny, could have put a bit of business your way hehe!
Ooh Birdie, it's a tough one, I personally wouldn't say anything but I'm a wimp. I thought it was etiquette when throwing a BBQ to get in bangers and burgers and some salady stuff and beer, and if anyone wants anything more fancy to eat or drink they bring it themselves. I'd say maybe they're just making sure people DO bring a bottle rather than turn up empty handed but if like you say it's normally them who are the culprits...?
(The grammar in that last sentence bothers me but don't know how else to word it)
We had planning meetings about an Aldi in our town recently and I'd say nothing any of the public said made a blind bit of difference - the location was changed in the end to make sure it was in the town centre rather than the outskirts to try to bring people into the centre and visit the other shops (using the term loosely) - might be interesting to go along though Cinny. Ooh maybe you could get a big corporate cleaning contract and have to take on staff!
Lara glad you enjoyed your hen do, I love a bit of hula hooping, it's brilliant for your belly
Aww Wendz I was looking at your Poppy pics earlier - she's so like you it's unreal, and I've never even seen you in real life
Thanks again girls for your continuing donations - only 10 days to go now - eep! Double eep when I saw we need a survival bag and whistle on the kit list - help!:eek:Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

You'd be surprised, if the real public sentiment is against them they wont build it as they wont recoup the cost quick enough (Guess what most of my research is involved with)I have half a mind to tell them that the reason none of us want to go round to their house anymore is this demand for food and drink every time they throw a party. I'd tell them straight out and tell them if they are coming to your B-day bash come early and with lots of food n booze to make up for all the misses or not to effing bother. But I'm a bit hot headed and despize people who act like that.Tete_en_l'Air wrote: »We had planning meetings about an Aldi in our town recently and I'd say nothing any of the public said made a blind bit of difference - the location was changed in the end to make sure it was in the town centre rather than the outskirts to try to bring people into the centre and visit the other shops (using the term loosely) - might be interesting to go along though Cinny.
Aldi shifting location was forced by the guy who owns that "town centre" complete with pigeon disco. Basically he said if aldi built he'd have to double his rents "read, if I dont get the aldi rent from aldi I'm getting it from the rest of the centre, I dont care if it dies." and the council assisted him.
Its a much worse site for them economically. This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.:j:j:j:j0 -
Good afternoon all! We are off to Portugal for our holiday on Thursday and I can't wait!!!
Those friends sound very rude Birdie! Puts me in mind of friends of ours that asked everyone round for a pizza night and we all thought lovely and turned up with booze (loads of it) only to be re-directed to the chipper below them to order our pizza and pay for it ourselves. They were always doing things like that. I hate tight people so it used to do my head in.
Wendz - can you send me a friend request for Facebook. Would love to see photos of Poppy and you can see recent ones of MaxTotal (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Ohhh CMD I forgot to say I was looking at the recent Max ones the other day, he's so gorgeous - those big blue eyes, I'm in love!
Oh is that what it was was it NIM? Can't imagine the rent is very much as it is given the sorts of shops we have. Excited to have a Home Bargains though (not that I ever venture into the town centre!)
I like the pigeons.Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0
