Hey everyone, just got home, yipppeee! It is so nice to see Paul and be in my own place again. It's so quiet here and relaxed, feel like I am on holiday.

Tete, well done on Race for Life!! :j That' awesome.

    Zig major congrats, yaaay!

Birdie, sounds like your friend's BM needs a corset or some serious sucky-in pants to get around that one. 5 or 6 inches that's a crazy amount.

Awww nice to have you back in the country Lara! I'll bet that first hot shower in your own bathroom will be a pleasure! :D Are you done with Kampala now or are you going back again?

I think the bridesmaid is trying her dress on again tonight and if it won't fasten, or look like it could by Saturday, then she's going to be asked to find something else to wear and come as a guest, at least that way she's got a couple of days to find an outfit rather than running around trying to find something suitable on Saturday morning. The dresses can't be let out and they're made to measure so a replacement can't be bought now, the bride is spinning between annoyed and heartbroken :( I've suggested the corset so we'll see what happens. I'm barely eating between now and Saturday to make sure that I fit into mine, if I don't I fear for my life!

Ah welcome back Lara! You've picked a nice sunny day to come back :)

Gosh Birdie, I'd be scared to eat too! I hope the other bridesmaid does manage to squeeze into her dress - how has she expanded by 6" in a fortnight?! After I went on safari I'd put on about 10lbs in 3 weeks (probably partly because I'd lost weight quickly beforehand) but even the WW lady was speechless!

I'm going to a wedding at the weekend too. We got a good deal on 2 nights in the hotel and country club so I'm hoping to have a massage or pedicure when we get there. Been working flat out and tomorrow will be my second day off in about three weeks so I reckon I deserve it.

In MSE news, I bought loads of Start at the supermarket yesterday (4 boxes!) as it was on offer and I've NEVER seen it on offer before. Little things... :D

When are you off on hols Cinny? I hope the weather stays nice and sunny for you :)

I think everyone gets a bit of wandering accent syndrome when they've had a few. I know I either get a bit of childhood Cheshire or a bit posh depending on who I'm with :rotfl:

Welcome home Lara!! Are you madly gobbling up fish and chips and Cadbury's chocolate?! I am and I haven't even been away!

Yikes Birdie! Seems a bit harsh to be demoted to 'guest' but at the same time I have no idea how she managed to put on that much weight? The dress hasn't been altered in the meantime and it's a seamstress mistake? Fingers crossed for girly bloating.

Poddle, Start is my ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE - which supermarket are we talking?!

Apparently I came back from 6 years living in Newcastle sounding like a 'posh Geordie', which is better than a scummy Geordie I guess!

Argh talk of holidays makes me want one! At least the sun's going to come back out soon. I was meant to be going over to the Lakes for a walk on Saturday but my friend's cried off with a chest infection ... do I dare go for it alone? I'm just scared in case I fall down a hole and there's no one there to know that I have! But really need to trasin harder for the Three Peaks, don't know how it's June already!!

I just don't know what else can be done if the dress doesn't fit, she can't walk about with it gaping open at the back so she's going to have to wear something else. I don't think my friend is trying to upset anyone, but she doesn't want her BM looking like a fool, for her sake as much as anyone elses! When the dress was ordered last year it was hanging off her as my friend had a feeling that she'd have to get the BM a bigger size and she's put on about 2st since then! When we had alterations done 3 weeks ago the dress was a tiny bit tight on the BM and she said that she'd be really good to make sure it fit and the seamstress just tightened it around the bust as it was gaping a bit... I'm having worries now, I'm going to nip round to her Mum's tonight to try mine on! I'm glad I've got Friday off in case I need to go shopping for some more serious control underwear!

Poddle, I think I managed to put about that much on when we were in the Dominican! And I'm still holding onto some of it! :) A bit of pampering sounds good too, sounds like you need it! I have to book the hotel for my brother's wedding today and I just signed up to the hotel group's loyalty program as we realised that it's the same group as the wedding we're going to in Scotland so we might as well get whatever we can out of them!

I don't like the idea of you out and about walking on your own Tete; I'll be very worried about you, especially after your mishap the other week!

Yikes Birdie! Seems a bit harsh to be demoted to 'guest'

I was thinking that! If that was me and I got demoted I'd turn up at the Bride's house, wearing the half done up bridesmaids dress, crying hysterically eating a half melted tub of Ben and Jerries wailing 'Do you hate me cause I'm FAT?!' Honestly though, poor suddenlychubby bridesmaid :(

We go Friday morning, Poddle. Veeery excited! Was asking OH what books he wanted me to pack for him and he looked at me in horror and said 'You mean, I'm going on holiday to be BORED?!' Sometimes it does worry me that I'm dating a 5 year old :undecided Oh snap! The pampering sounds like a good idea though! Have a lovely time :D

If the weather's going to be nice, I'd go for it Tete! Pack myself some beef spread and tom sandwiches, a bottle of iced tea and be on my merry little way-oh. I'm sure you'll be fine, and if it's walking weather there will be other people milling around to help you if you get in a pickle?

LOL! I know it's a bit harsh, but it's not for me to stick my oar in, I already suggested mega underwear, matching fabric panels stuck in the back, shrugs etc... her Dad suggested taking the dress to dulux to get a colour match and paint her back so you won't see where it doesn't fasten! She's a size 20-22 (well, maybe 24 now?!) so it'll be difficult to find a suitable dress for her in 2 days and make out like she's the Maid of Honour in a fancier frock... the reason we've ended up in the dresses we're wearing is because they couldn't find anything that suited her on the high street. Sigh, I'm so glad I only had the one BM!

I'm lucky that my OH loves reading Cinny, if he didn't I just don't know what I'd do with him on holiday! I got home 10 minutes after he did last night and he was already tucked up in bed with his book... he's such an old man now! :rotfl:

Sympathetic dad!!! It seems harsh to demote her but yeah I can understand the Bride's dilemma, and two stone is a lot to put on in a year for anyone, let alone when you know you're going to be a BM!

Am only thinking of Catbells which is pretty easy (ie no deadle crevasses) and v popular so should be OK. Peanut butter sandwiches and Jelly Babies all the way! :D

Well if you promise to take all of your emergency items with you (trying to think back to D of E... rope, Kendall Mint Cake, whistle, torch, blanket...errr don't know what else or if any of that is correct????) I'll let you go out on your own, but make sure you keep someone updated with your whereabouts! :) I always had Werther's as my walking sweets when I was a lass and went trekking on school trips!

Shouldnt that be "when I WERE a lass" Birdie?
This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.
