A maggot? In the bathroom? Sounds improbable but hey there's nothing like adrenaline for getting the bathroom cleaned! :D

Just dropping in to report that I finished the Race for Life in 39:15 :jVery very pleased with that, I was aiming for under 50 mins! I confess I did walk every now and again (it's hard not to as it's so crowded and a lot of people are walking) but not for long and I ran the last KM without stopping for definite. I'd estimate I ran at least 4km of it, not bad going for my first proper outdoor run!

Many thanks again for all your donations - I tell you what, it's emotional reading everyone's 'back signs' which say who they're running for - one woman had lost her husband AND her son and another said "For my mum who lost her battle last week" - last week! What a brave lady, I wanted to give her a hug :(

Hope everyone's having a good weekend thus far, maggots not included, I'm off to lie down!

It came to about £70-something in the end - not an awful lot but I didn't want to bang on about it too much as it's the three peaks next month and I'll be trying to raise money for that too, don't want everyone to be sick of me!

Did you get the the bottom of the maggot mystery then?

No, NIM really has got me questioning if I imagined it, but I can't believe I did.

Oh gosh, I'd have freaked out if I'd seen a maggot too! Would be an odd place to find one though...

Well done Tete, that's great! I've done the Race for Life a couple of times and it always chokes me up reading people's 'I'm running for...' especially when they have 4 or 5 names. It's so sad :( , but that's why it's such a good cause. I'd happily do it every year but, like you say, it's difficult to keep going back to people to fundraise. I know that a lot of people donate to causes that mean something to them, but feel mean if they can't support you.

ETA: Enjoy a nice cup of tea and a biscuit while you put your feet up Tete :)

Well done Tete! I went and watched my mum once and got very emotional. I got very easilly persuaded to give a monthly donation when i was there.

Awhh, well done Tete!! I can imagine the back signs must be emotional :( But you did so well, and £70 is a great amount to raise. Don't belittle it by saying it wasn't an awful lot. :)

Veeery odd with the maggot. Are you sure it might not have been something else? Your mind just clicked it being something gross before freaking out and tossing it in the shower? Happens to me so often, I'm like 'Holy Moly, there's a spider and it's gonna have me' so I prance in the opposite direction, and later on closer inspection, it's a little bit of rolled up loose cotton! Either way, least the bathroom's clean!!

I thought I'd report, I'm a red head again! Well, I've had 'fake' red hair for a while, but now it's a natural red. Deepish auburn. My total mistake, stripped my hair and was meant to go for a light brown but hey. Looks alright! Also wearing my first ever maxi dress I was treated to. And Sweet Mercy they're the best things ever! I've never bothered with them as I'm a short-tush and I thought they'd swamp me. But they don't, huzzah! Anyways, I've sent myself away upstairs as OH is watching football and I just can't take it. So I'm going to have a bubble bath, and listen to some Dave Ramsey casts.

Hello everyone! Uni is officially over and as long as I pass my dissertation then I am officially a qualified teacher - yay!

I'm really sorry but although I have been reading the thread, I can't remember everyone's news - I'm useless! But I hope everyone is ok.

Tete that's fab, well done! Can you please link me to your fundraising page for your Three Peaks as I'd love to sponsor you (especially as I didn't sponsor you in time for your Race for Life - didn't realise it was so soon! :o)

Birdie that is irritating how your OH is behaving. Mine is exactly the same though. I agree with Tete's suggestion about buying the paint while you post the letter! ;) My OH works in a garage and seems to think that this means that he doesn't have to do any manual work when he gets in (i.e. cleaning or helping me cook). He seems to think that teaching/writing an essay is easy. Which I know may seem less tiring than being on your feet but it is mentally exhausting.

Cinny that's both insane and brilliant how you get your shopping so cheap! Loved your Rich and Reaper comment! :D I'm gonna try those wedges. The Pink Whisk blog has a gorgeous recipe for white choc and raspberry cakes if anyone is interested. I upped the choc to 100g though and they are lovely :)

I do that! At least the bathroom is sparkling Dinah :)

Fingers are crossed, firmly crossed! So exciting :D

Forgot to mention the weirdest part of my day! Went with my Mum food shopping (for her, obviously!) in a town nearby. Afterwards we stopped by a pet shop to pick up food for the pooches. While my Mum was inside this kid came in (my Mum says he's 13, I'd say more like 11) with a dog. Said it was his Dad's dog, he didn't want him anymore. Would they buy him for a tenner? They just laughed, thought he was joking and he left. But as we came out of the pet shop, we saw him just randomly knocking on peoples door. I got out of the car, went to see what he was up to. And he offered me this poor dog for £10! So I started asking questions, why doesn't his Dad want the dog, what's changed, how old is he ect. And he comes out with this story that he Dad lost his job, can't afford to feed him anymore, wants rid. The kid was a little shifty, so I suggested I walked back to his house with him. Have a word with his Dad, mainly to make sure the dog actually was his. He said his Dad wasn't in, but we walked there anyways. Get there, his Dad leans over the back gate and starts yelling 'What are you doing bringing that effing dog back, I told you we can't have him, go give it back to the owner.' Which is confusing, considering the kid said it was his dog. So his story changes too an old woman gave him the dog outside Sainsburys and told him to sell it. I told the kid's Dad what he'd told me, and said he's been asking anybody for £10 for it. And his Dad went this weird red colour my Pa tends too when I overstep it. Told the kid to go back too Sainbury's, see if the woman is still there. Me and my Mum followed him in the car, I hopped out just as he starts walking down the staff carpark side. By the time I've told my Mum to go park in the carpark, and got myself across the road he's come back up from the side of Sainbury's, dogless and started walking home. Run after him to ask where the pooch is and he swore he gave it back to the woman. I go down the side of Sainsburys to check and he's just tied it up to a fence!! :( After much confusion not being able to get a hold of anyone, we finally call the Police who say to leave the dog where it is, and they'll come fetch him. Thankfully the girls inside the shop were lovely, found him a bowl of water and a couple treats (he was such a sweet dog, really friendly and making a fuss of everyone) but we had to get back so couldn't wait. Just as we get home there's a message from one of the shop girls saying another member of staff had remembered seeing the dog on a missing poster, had got hold of the owners and he was safely home :T Now my mind is just milling with why this kid did it, how he got hold of the dog, if he's done something like it before, and mainly why all that bother for £10?! I did get the kids address for the Police, so hopefully that'll just scare him. Also got a photo of the dog, he's quite old and chunky, but sweet!!

Ow poolie, any chance you could talk your employer into a couple of free handsets for myself n the missus?

Guess who just remembered who you work for :p

And Cinny, that lad needs sorting out, I feel physically sick that someone could do that.
This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.
