Tete the reason you dont understand us is your not supposed to. Us men have our own language, admittedly its mostly based around booze and sport but still. Ow Poolie, scoop? This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.:j:j:j:j0

Tete, totally with you on the 'what the heck are they on about' with NIM and Poolie! Think they do it on purpose to confuse us, but they're always going to be outnumbered on here!
Well done on a great time in the Race For Life! I'm so proud of you! :T
I love that cartoon too! Might have to save that one! :rotfl:
Dinah... eek and ick is all I can say about Maggotgate!
Well done on finishing Uni Zig, you must be so pleased and relieved! Fingers crossed that the dissertation is all good, when do you find out if you've passed?
Cinny that story about the dog is so bizarre, I can't get my head around it all! Well done for sticking your nose in and helping to get the dog back to his owner, many people would have just let it lie and goodness knows what would have happened?! Oh and I'm another maxi dress lover, I've only got 2 but they are fab to wear, so comfy and floaty and ahhhhhh....
OH and I made up, I posted the letter (which needed an extra 29p postage as it was too thick... so my insistence on sending it via the PO was right at least) but I didn't buy any paint. We didn't really get up to much over the weekend due to lack of funds and rainy weather and I had to really bite my tongue yesterday when he was moaning about being bored... if we'd have bought the paint we'd have been nicely occupied all weekend!
My friend who is getting married on Saturday sent me a text on Sunday to say that one of the other bridesmaids can't fit into her dress, apparently it's about 5-6" too small and won't zip up! It fit 2 weeks ago! To say that the bride is now having kittens is an understatement! I'm going round tonight to help tie napkins with fancy ribbon and tell her that everything will be OK... although not sure how it's possible to make a person shrink that much in 4 days! At least the extra few pounds I've put on will be hidden by the sexy suck 'er in pants I bought from Primarni!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Totally goes over my head! That saying, I can be out with OH and he sees someone he knows and it's suddenly like he's talking Latin. Plus, no matter where the other guy comes from OH's Sheffield accent thickens up quicker than gravy. Shouldn't complain at that part though, he sounds like Sean Bean sometimes :happyhear
Where's the hole in the dress? Could you just make it into a shorter dress? Or maybe a floaty top? Primark have some amazing maxi dresses for tall people (I held one up to myself last weekend and it just pooled on the floor. I'm 5"4.5 so it's not like I'm Snooki) Was gorgeous too, thick burnt orange and grey stripes. Sure it was £9?
Did you have fun in York yesterday, Dinah? If I lived in York I wouldn't mind going around the museum again. I like the part with all the Chinese stuff that makes no sense to me at all because by the time I've got there I cba to read anymore posters.
So weird about the extra weight on the other bridesmaid Birdie!! All I can think of is maybe she's a little or majorly, ahem, lady time bloated? / BBQ time bloatedHopefully it's all alright for next weekend, feel bad for the Bridesmaid though!
All excited for my holiday2 days work, then I'm off for 11! Keep checking the weather and it looks to be sunny, 24/25deg for the first few days :j Plenty of washing and cleaning and baking to do before we go though.

I'm thinking that the bridesmaid has to be a little bloated too (happens to the best of us!), she's trying the dress on again tomorrow to see if anything has changed! Poor girl, I do feel for her. Although when she came to the bridal shower the other week she said she wasn't going to drink as it is 'empty calories'... then sat down and ate a scone covered in butter, jam and cream! I think I'd rather have a couple of glasses of wine; at least it makes me daft enough to dance like an idiot and burn a load of calories in the process!
Ooooh your holiday will be lovely, think we're supposed to be back to the good stuff, weather wise, so it'll be fab!
Isn't it funny how much people's accents change depending who they're talking to? OH tends to go right Yorkshire farmer type with his family (and mine for some reason) but he talks like a posh Harrogate boy with his school friends! My parents have lost their accents and talk normally/a bit posh until they see the Tyne then they turn really Geordie, it's so funny! OH says I get a bit 'Northern' when I've had a drink or if I get worked up, all of his friends call me a Geordie which isn't even right; I must have just picked it up from my family!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. You should hear me around my family / talking about home / telling Irish folk tales. I think people really struggle to follow me then. This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.:j:j:j:j0

I can barely understand Sheamus on RAW some nights and he's had his accent dumbed down for Americans! I think he just gets angry and there's a little bit of a lisp in there which throws me.
I get called Northern too Birdie, I said something to OH the other day and he said 'I don't even know where you've picked that up from, that's more Northern than me!' Though OH's family find me really well spoken, I still see myself as having such a none accent! I feel bad for my Sister as we both pick up accents so easily, she'll be coming home with a real American twang to her voice!0 -
I can imagine NIM! My grandad was an Irish drunk, I never knew what he was saying, ever!
My Mum's a right one for picking up 'twangs', whenever she goes to America she tries to pronounce things (like place names and brand names etc) in their accent but she just sounds daft! When we went to lunch after our registry office wedding the waiter was from Toronto and my Mum got all excited (because we went there 13 years ago!) and kept saying it with the whole Canadian twang, 'Toron'o'... I was so embarassed! Even worse when she starts talking about 'Nyorlans' (New Orleans!), for flip's sake woman, you're English! :rotfl:Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Oh I'd pick that over how my Mother is Birdie!! There is such a thing of being too proud of being English and our words and ways. She and my Brother would pick fights with me over using the word frosting when I made cupcakes. Oh lordy!
On a mission this evening. Called Sky just to ask about how long we're tied into our packages for and they offered us £15 off for 3 months. :T Also been to the library for holiday books (got A Vintage Affair, Before I Forget and The Perfect Lie) and a bag of spearmint chews for the car rideSteadily writing a to do list for Thursday too.

LOL Cinny, my OH is like that! He's going to be really overly English when we're away! I accidentally use Americanisms sometimes (can't help it, 90% of the TV shows I watch are American, as are the books I read, some of it is bound to filter through!) and he tells me off about it!
Your holiday reading looks good, I'll be expecting reviews when you get home!
I spent last night sitting with my friend and her sister tying perfect bows around 96 napkins. Took hours! Then we realised that if we stack the napkins in big boxes the bows will get squashed so my friend had to go to the Co-Op and ask to borrow the big bakery trays to transport them in, we were expecting her to come back with 1 or 2, she turned up on the doorstep with 8 big trays stacked up on a little wheely trolley thing! She convinced the chap in the shop to tell the delivery man who'd be collecting them that some delinquents had nicked them... and that they'll miraculously reappear on Sunday! :rotfl:Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary.
