Oooh that makes my blood boil! I'd just tell him he's just as capable as writting a letter as you are, you work full time too and you're not his secretary. No one likes DIY, but part of being an adult is life isn't all fun and games and sometimes you have to do things you don't like. Equally you're as capable of painting as he is of writting a letter - although if he knows it would suprise me if he didn't offer to do it if he knew how happy it would make you.

I wasn't even expecting him to help with the painting and he knows that... it was my little bank holiday project to keep me occupied... every month I ask if he thinks we can afford it and every month I'm told to wait till next payday!

I've got the stinking card in my car to post tonight. He only found it whilst I was there at lunch (it wasn't lost... there's another one right under it waiting for him to take to work to give to a lady on his shift but he's not bothered to do it) When we were bickering about it I said, 'Fine, we'll take it in the morning' and he said 'No way, I'm not spending my Saturday in the post office!'... so it's up to the elves to sort. And apparently I'm the lazy one who does nothing! 10 minutes whizzing a hoover round and dumping everything that's lying around the living room on the desk in the spare room then telling me to sort it out makes him the king of housework and me the slovenly housewife!

Can you tell I'm in a tizz with myself now?! ;)

You're getting me in a tizz tbh! I can't believe he would be so selfish! But then I remember when you first told me his idea of tidying was dumping all your stuff in the spare room, my blood boiled then too - it's one for all and all for one in a marriage, you don't draw a line down whose stuff is whose! Or if thats the way he wants to play it, then he definately should be posting his own cards and writting his own letters. I have no idea how I'd handle him buying himself treats like the new controller, but not putting in for nessisary things like the paint because there is no money left, I just can't see what to say or do if he doesn't see that thats not okay.

Hmmmm... he's just a spoilt youngest child who is used to getting his own way! And I'm a softie who likes to treat him to the things he really wants within reason. He likes things to be tidy but sees no sense in sorting it out when he picks it up... why bother when it can be shoved in a drawer to be forgotten about? It eventually builds up so I then have to spend days clearing things and throw out 3 bin bags of rubbish and the process begins again. I'm hoping that eventually I'll have thrown out everything so there's nothing left to sort!

It is very tempting to just do 'my' washing and sort out 'my' mail and wash 'my' dishes but I'm hoping that he's going to pick up that as I do everything equally with him in mind, he ought to do the same for me! A month or so ago he did clean (ish) the spare room as it was too much for me (I get a little overfaced and stressy when there's too much to do at once!) but when I looked in the wardrobes I discovered a lot of stuff that had been hidden, and in the drawers and on shelves etc. I think that big problem is that we see 'tidy' in totally different lights!

I wouldn't resort to childish tactics like doing only 'your' chores (well I probably would you know but it's not advisable!) - best to carry on as you are then you can take the moral highground :D Can you not just go out and buy the paint ... in fact could you do it on the way to the post office - "Oh, look what I picked up whilst I was out DOING YOUR ERRAND" leaving "if you'd done it yourself I wouldn't have been in town near the paint shop" hanging silently in the air?

Lol I got mine yesterday, quite pleased with the haul. No space in my fridge of freezer though! Is the offer still on? If Tesco change the food on the deal I might have to go again :D

Well I went to the loo earlier, and I SWEAR I saw a maggot on the loo roll. So I freaked out, threw it at the shower, and just spent over an hour bleaching the entire bathroom. The grout hasn't been so sparkly since it went in, but I still didn't find the blasted maggot again.
