I like a good book (got through 7 on holiday, to read pile slowly decreasing), but I'm not very good at sitting still (shocker) so I'm happy to do it one day but I couldn't do it for a whole week. On the last day the girl next to me was spraying oil on herself every 15mins, I swear I could hear her cooking. As it was only a weeks holiday I was better than on honeymoon when I wrote a business plan, but I still found all the 'relaxing' stressful at times.
Hotel was clean, food was fine. The majority of people didn't go to the restaurant at lunchtime and had the chips, burgers, pizza, nuggets and beer from the poolside bar. Because that seemed to be what was in demand there was a lot of that in the restaurant on an evening, however there were turkish dishes too and those were lovely generally. Never had so much veal or aubergine in my life!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Were there any nice walks? I must say I do like going for a walk along by the sea when I am on hols (if I am near the sea).
I can't understand people frying in the sun either. It is so stupid. Have these people never heard of a spray tan!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

We had some beautiful scenery around us so if you could find your way out of the town there probably were, but there certainly wasn't any information about them.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Sounds like the holiday was a bit of a mixed bag. I personally love relaxing, I do very well at sitting still and reading, with the odd swim and stroll every hour or so. Ahhh, I could do with a holiday! People can be a bit hassle-y over there (although no-where near as bad as Tunisia-ick!) but I've only been with OH so they were never too bad with me as OH would give them The Look if they got too close, I was oblivious to most of it! The horse ride sounds scary, I'll bet you were glad when it was over! Did you eat any stretchy ice cream?!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0

No! I made a real effort to find it, we had ice cream every day but were most dissapointed that none of it stretched.
Mum said to me last night 'so where's the next holiday then' and I looked lost and said 'France, with you in summer' 'no no, after that' 'erm, New York' 'no, after that' 'I'm sorry mum I think that's quite a few holidays to have lined up!'Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Lol - she is used to you booking holidays all the time!
My friend is like that. He was only home from Oz and he had Lanzarote booked and as soon as they come home from there he will be booking somwhere else!
I used to be like that, and still like to have trips home/weekends organised. But nowhere near to the scale I used to be like!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

I think I just love travelling, and I know once we have children it'll be on a much smaller scale for a few years, so I just want to cram in as much as I can now. The two week family holiday in France would be fine, but I wouldn't want to take a baby to New York, think it would be a bit stressful.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Yeah - I think New York with a baby would be a bit manic. Having said that I think the best time to take a baby (until they are maybe 3/4) would be from 0-4 months as they sleep a lot and you can pretty much do anything with them, go to restaurants at night etc. It's when they get to Max's age things get a bit tricky, bed times and trying to amuse them on a plane!
But I think I would prefer to go on a quieter, relaxing holiday with a baby, than a city so you are right to go now!
I can't believe I have never been to New York. I would love to go. I quite fancy a girlie 4/5 day break there next year but not sure if OH would be too happy! Then again, if we were living in Ireland he would have help from his family and mine. Oh I can only dream!!!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

I agree that NY with a baby must be terribly stressful! I wish we could be the kind of folk who take 2 or 3 holidays a year plus weekends away but it just doesn't happen for us! This is the first and last year we'll be having 2 holidays. I'd like to get more stuff done before babies arrive but it's just not going to be possible. We're going to have to delay some of the big trips until the kids are old enough to be left at home! I wish it was possible to withdraw something out of your pension when you're in your twenties so you can actually do the cool stuff that you can't afford until you're too old to appreciate it!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Lol - I love the pension idea Birdie
I think there is a gap where you can't do anything with kids (maybe 4/5 years - that's why I am glad mine are together!) but they I think you can bring them pretty much anywhere, if you want to!
When they get older I do quite fancy one holiday a year without them (1 week) but when they are at an age where they are excited about staying with grandparents and can speak/fend for themselves!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947
