    (((Hugs))) Lara,

It's terrible when our parents disappoint us. Is there anyway you could speak to your Mum and tell her that you are stressed and mybe try to involve her in some way? Do you think she is put out because the wedding isn't at home?

I'm sure if you tell your OH and friends how you are feeling they will rally around you. Maybe you are giving off the air that you can cope and they don't think you need help? I know I often do that and it is to my detriment.

Birdie - hope things get busier for you. I am afraid I have no advice as I am not too keen on my new job. I really need to stick with it though, to try and get under 10k before the next baby is born and so we are in a better financial position.

On a positive note - myself and Oh went to a private scan for the baby on Saturday and everything looks great. The heartbeat was good and strong and the baby was chilling out having a nap. I am just over 12 weeks now (got put back 5 days) and have my NHS scan next week!

My Dad always made them for us with ketchup and salt, I had them sweet at my friends house when I was little as their Mum wouldn't give me the damn ketchup. I wasn't impressed.

Thats fab news about your scan CMD!! :D

Where has everyone been?! Stuffing your faces with pancakes?! ;)

I can't believe how much my job is sucking right now, the 'plenty of work' I was promised on Friday turned into a tiny pile of paper to check off on Monday that lasted an hour. My manager didn't even speak to me yesterday apart from to say at 2pm 'Sorry, I feel like I've ignored you all day. You'll have some work tomorrow' It's really no fun having to look occupied all day, I was exhausted! If the same thing happens today I'm complaining. On the plus side, I like going home for lunch, OH made me pancakes yesterday; he only managed to successfully flip one of them, the rest were a bit wobbly!

Have you heard anything about the grant Dinah?

Know how you feel, I have 1 days work to fill my 5 day week every week. Managers are aware of it but they don't want to lay us off in case there is an upturn in the market!

Need to submit the grant application, I've been promised an emailed quote by the close of play today. Which means I need to find 3 prices for the other items I'm looking for so I can submit it all at once.

Oh and I've been meaning to ask... what's a travel ninja frame?!

Lol we got a Qype ninja years ago, and I can't remember how it started but he started travelling with us, so now everywhere we go we take a picture of the ninja in front of a significant feature of the country. So we have him in front of the Dubai skyscrapper, in the sea in the Maldives, on a camel in Egypt etc. It makes a change from having us in a cliched pose in front of them (plus in the picture of me on the camel I have giant arms and I would never put it on the wall!)

Hmm, I'm struggling a bit at the moment. It's just over 3 weeks until I go to Uganda, and a lot of wedding stuff isn't yet sorted. All of it seems close, but it's taking aaages to get the final quote, the final measurements, the final meetings etc. It's making me feel quite stressed and I haven't been able to keep it simple as I had hoped. The entertainment is still really not sorted after our two DJs went a bit flaky, so spending time on that today.

My OH has taken on too much and isn't very well so he's leaning on me when I really need to be leaning on him. My best friend has a new girlfriend who lives out of London, so he's spending a lot of time with her. My bridesmaids are finishing a PhD and starting a new business so it's quite difficult to talk to them. Disappointingly I haven't been getting any support from my Mum who just keeps telling me what I should have done and doing really radical things like telling everyone we will book and pay for their taxis from the airport??!! It's been a long time since I have seen the caring side to my Mum and I really miss her. Think I am feeling a bit lonely :(

Anyway hate to be all doom and gloom! Things are still good, just hard to keep uni work and wedding and getting ready for my trip going at the same time.

Sorry things are so hectic for you atm Lara, sounds like Uganda will be nice and relaxing after wedding planning. Just keep in mind if something doesn't get done, its not the end of the world, you won't care on the day if you have a CD on and no cake, the people around you makes the day not the decoration. I really aprpeciate our friends and family so much more since our wedding as I was so touched they all travelled so far and were so happy for us.

No pancakes here, NIM hasn't been well so he's on soup only, and I'm still not very hungry since being ill so not eating much except cereal.

Lara - sorry to hear things are so stressful at the moment. Sounds like you could do with someone to give you a bit more of a hand with things.

Birdie - sounds like you are being a good friend. Must be hard when you are buzzing from the wedding but I am sure she really appreciates it.

Flower - glad the sickness has died down for you. Have fun feeding the ducks!

Cinny - ketchup!! i agree with Lara lemon and sugar is the way!

CMD - glad the scan went well! Is so lovely to see a baby is actually there isn't it!

My work is a bit quiet at the moment, I am sort of in wind down mode already as well.

Injection went fine, although OH looked a bit shock at size of it. It was the blood one yes Birdie, hopefully won't have to have another now till after baby.

Ahhh the ninja makes sense now! OH's brother brought a hippo with him with the same idea. I think he got carried away, I looked through his holiday photos and the bloomin' thing is in about 90% of the photos, including wedding ones!

Can't believe you have ketchup and salt on pancakes Cinny... that's just wrong!

Another day at work nearly over... I've been assured I'll have something to do tomorrow, I hope so! I just got my wage slip (we get paid on Friday) and I get paid a whole £60-odd more now which is nice. It'll be confusing next month though as we're moving from 4-weekly to monthly pay so I'll think I'm suddenly getting paid loads but it has to last longer and we're no longer getting our nice 'mortgage free month' that pays for holidays! I've been looking at things to do and places to eat in Florida and the list is building, we're going to need a lot of money (and a big appetite!) so I'm determined to save as much as I can!

I know the feeling - I could spend all week in New York in the restaurants! Hmmm, I had forgotten about that, will need to do some saving as we get a bit nearer.

Thanks for the advice CMD, my Mum is still very cross we aren't getting married at home and lets me know at every available opportunity. Lately she is just saying how guilty she feels that all our family are having to pay for flights and hotels. (She wouldn't have a problem with Paul's family having to drive 3 hours and then take a flight though). If I say something she doesn't like or don't agree with her she just goes off the phone in a huff.

Still good news today - think I found a good USA shop to order the bridesmaid dresses, also ordered samples of our wedding rings online and most exciting of all, think I have found replacement DJs, sweeeeeeeeeet. With a little help from the internet and our sound engineer friend. It is all even seemingly coming in around the budget. I haven't done any uni work but I sure feel a lot less stressed, so that's a good start :)

CMD it must be so nice to have your scan, congrats!! Sorry your new job is not living up to expectations :( Is it the people, or is the work not as good? Birdie you must be the only person I know asking for more work! It is tiring though, looking busy. Are you able to plan your party a bit? I have been keeping an eye on your other thread... :D

Lara, am I right in saying your family are in Ireland? Unfortunately I know, to a degree, how you feel with this one. Were/are your mum close the wedding not withstanding? Have you just flat out told her how shes making you feel and how unacceptable her behaviour is? With the benefit of hindsight I wish I'd done that to mine FAR sooner than I did. We might even be talking now if I had.
This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.

That sounds like a very productive day, glad you're feeling less stressed now!

I can't do much party planning at work sadly as my back is to the main office door so everyone can see what's on my screen and I don't have the unmonitored use of a big colour lazer printer like I used to, in my new office they're all about economising so you can only print in B&W unless you get clearance for colour (?!) and you have to log in to the printer with a PIN so they can monitor how much you print and it tells you how much it has cost the company each time! Gone are the days of printing off reams of free downloads from Papercraft Inspirations! :(

Hope you're feeling a little better NIM :)
