Or how about a link to say she's not, remember these facts though:
She did have the original receipt
She was not given a new one with the exchange.
The manager didn't try very hard to go through the records of returns.
Although those are NOT facts. Try this:
She did have the original receipt showing it was exchanged
She may have lost the new receipt/she may not have been given one
The OP offered no assistance to the manager in narrowing the search parameters0 -

PS -My thanks to somethingcorporate for quoting my original post, still there for all to see (for now!)0 -

And how about she did have the original receipt but she had also removed the tags from the cardigan indicating to the shop manager that it had possibly been worn? We are still waiting to hear why the OP removed the tags to simply try on the garment but she hasn't yet enlightened us.0 -
She did have the original receipt
Which was for an item she no longer had. This receipt did not show the item she was attempting to return so there was no proof of any kind that the goods in question came from that shop or had been legitimately obtained.
She was not given a new one with the exchange.
She does not remember being given a new receipt. ("I didn't get a new receipt as far as I know"). This is very different to not being given one.
The manager didn't try very hard to go through the records of returns.
The manager offered to go through the sales log for the day concerned, the problem being that Muffinmaker didn't know which day it was. Whose fault was this?
You can post the same stuff as many times as you like but the fact remains that RI had every right to refuse the refund.Or how about a link to say she's not

...all she needed was proof of purchase, which I'm sure the manager could have found if she wanted to.
Surely the OP would have expected a question like that. When returning an item, it is only reasonable to be able to state when you acquired the thing?0 -
The size 10 was too big, the size 8 was too small. Should have tried the 9! Durr!"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

All those links refer to whether a customer has the automatic right to a refund.
That's agreed, tho point is that RI have their own policy to refund if goods are in a saleable condition. The returned cardigan did have the tags removed but these can be easily re-applied.0 -
Apparently the manager was prepared to look for proof of purchase, but the OP was not prepared to help by giving some idea whan that might've been.
Surely the OP would have expected a question like that. When returning an item, it is only reasonable to be able to state when you acquired the thing?
Agree the OP should have given more details but it can't be that hard to go through a few return forms in say a 7 day period.0 -

I imagine the Troll comment was aimed at me, I don't understand how I can be called that just because I don't agree with you.0 -
I would never suggest anyone was a troll simply because they happened to have differing views to my own.0
