    Hi all

We had a big family party yesterday and I poached two large salmon. We have about half a side leftover and other than just eating it with salad tomorrow wondered what else we could do with it ? Could I freeze it just as it is or would I be better to make it into fishcakes or something else ?

    Thanks

You can certainly freeze it as it is. It depends if you'd rather have it frozen as a potential ingredient or as a ready meal - obviously if you've frozen it as fishcakes, you won't be able to serve it as something else! Either way, wrap it fairly closely and label it clearly with the date and amount...freezer Russian roulette is not fun.

Thanks Ms B - agree with the labelling, I am always very careful ever since dinner one evening for the family was chillagnaise - a frozen bag of chilli mixed in with a frozen bag of bolognaise sauce as both were unlabelled and looked the same :eek::eek::eek:

You could freeze it for later. You could make fishcakes, fish pie, pasta sauce :D

I'll add this to the existing thread to give you more ideas.

"Freezer Roulette makes my day every time" (Penelope Penguin, post #210)

I think it's fine as long as you can tell sweet from savoury.

Many years ago, my grandma brought in a jug of custard and served us all a delicious pudding of...SAUSAGE PIE with caster sugar on top!

She'd confused it with an apple pie which looked very similar.

Don't think she forgot that one till the day she died!
