Well, still no sign of User ID letter in the mail this morning so I rang their freephone & a very helpful lady gave me my User ID over the phone.
So I'm up and running :j

    Molly Mandy

How long has it been since your security code arrived, and what number did you ring?
  • Cepheus - I got my security code at the beginning of this week.

I rang 0800 1694955. Ignore first 5 options - then wait - then next options include "existing applications" (option 3 I think). She asked me security questions & for three numbers from my security number. Then she was able to give me my User ID.

Hope she can help you too.

I got tired of waiting for the user ID to arrive by post. Got through on the phone using 0800 1694955. Don't press any of the first 'choose from the following selection' numbers and wait for the second choice. Enquiry about savings application. Explain you have not received your user ID. Have all your other information to hand. Name, D.O.B, address etc. You will be asked some random numbers from your security number and then will be given your user ID number. Painless, and for me an efficient, helpful customer services operative.

Thanks Vertern & Molly_Mandy did this today, and it is up and running. Doubt if the number would ever have arrived!

I arranged to transfer money into the Post office Account from my nominated account, perhaps the debit card option would have been quicker?

Shame there isn't any way of sending money from the post office account at regular intervals.
  • Glad you guys / girls are up and running. Let hope they keep the rates up on this account, otherwise it will be another switch and ditch operation! :D
  • I know you can download an application form for this account if you have problems with the online application but does anyone know if you can just send the application form instead of trying the online application first. I would prefer the second option really, just wondered if anyone knew the answer to this. Many thanksx
  • Anyone managed to find the sort code for the Post office online saver account without having to ring the 0845 number ?
PS Good interest rate but rubbish website as they cannot merge their credit card accounts with their online savings accounts!! ie customers need TWO different log in password and access codes

You clearly weren't paying attention, they tell you both your account number and the sort code at the end of the application process! Mine is 90-78-68, I imagine everyone has the same sort code.

Can anyone confirm that all Post Office accounts are now covered by UK compensation legislation, and not Irish government?

    Thank you
