  • Heaven forbid that things are made easy for the customer!!! So frustrating isnt it, you would think that a P O clerk could verify your docs to get things moving for you and avoid sending personal info through the post. Ho hum.................................these are the times we live in unfortunately.

Don't the Post Office advertise a document certifying service?
"It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis
  • Those thinking of opening the Post Office account - did you see my post on Friday 12th? "Post Office savings chaos" ? With what we have experienced, would never touch them again if they doubled the interest rate!
  • IMO internet accounts are best opened with just £1 until account has been fully established.

Since opening my account 1 month ago (with £1) I'm still awaiting for my user name (tho' I rec'd PIN 3 weeks ago and account opening details last week).

Well I would , .... if I could but because I am one of 12 million who live in Wales , I am excluded because the counties in wales do not exist in the application form online . I rang the CS who knew about the problem six months ago ..... and nothing has been done .

There are a group of people who design websites for banks who , along with the banks are having a complete laugh , at our expense . Try looking at what you have typed in on a Business payments page at HSBC - you cannot even see all the completed entry for the sort code or the account number .

Likewise HSBC knew about the problem , but still refuse to alter the page , saying that you can always check it on the next page of the process !!!

I rant because recently a lady recently lost £ 40000 , after appealing to the High Court because she typed in a wrong figure in the account number and the bank refused to retrieve the money .

....... but there again , I agree with you and I have gone elsewhere .
  • Hmmm definately will give these lot a miss. Thanks for all the posts

I'm not impressed either. I received my security number this morning so logged into the account, which was fine. One of the options given is to change your security number, so I figured that would be a good idea. I tried a few times but it kept telling me the current security number I was entering was incorrect. So I logged out, and tried logging in again, but it would no longer let me in.

Gave them a call and was told that you couldn't change the security number online (so why give the option then?), and that because I'd got the number wrong 3 times I had been locked out (why didn't it tell me that on screen) and that a new security number had been automatically mailed to me (why didn't it tell me that?).

    It's not looking good.
Well, it's 10 days later and still no sign of a new security number. So I just gave them a call to be told that somebody made a mistake and no new security number was actually issued, so that's another 3-5 day wait (assuming it arrives).

This outfit is such a shambles I'm not sure I'll dare deposit more that the £1 they already have!

Not much help but is possible to change your security number online, I've done it. Website glitch ?

Like you I've only got a £1 in and daren't add anymore ! I know its FSCS protected but who needs the hassle if things continue to spiral out of control in Ireland.

I guess so. I logged in fine, but everytime I entered the requested three digits from my current security number, it told me they were incorrect. I suppose I might risk one further attempt changing it when (and if!) my new security number arrives.
