Iphone 4 question on Data allowance

Options
hi guys

im in the process of getting an Iphone for my business as i need it throughout the day for ordering online and well as watching videos/podcasts.

Basically iv looked on o2 and vodafone and they seem to have limits of 500-750mb per month which i dont think will be enough as i will be streaming videos daily from youtube etc.

My brother got a deal last yr with unlimited internet, do they no longer offer this? Also when i look for charges outside the plan, for data it says "n/a" does tht mean u wont get charged for going over?

Im looking for an 18/24month contract
600-700min
500txts
(maybe free landlines tho not important)
and unlimited internet
free phone

for 35p/m.

Can i get such a deal??

thanks in advance

Unlimited data is a thing of the past now, only GiffGaff left I think and theY are sim only.

Have a look on this thread, you could try for more data by paying extra

  • Thanks, so with vodaphone you get charged for going over, but do O2 still have a fair usuage policy i.e. just get a warning if you keep going over as this might be ok?

I dont see the point in an iphone if i can only use 500mb as with all the apps/streaming its bound to go over it and if im just browsing i might as well just get a BB!

At this price point, you're looking at about £100 cost for the device.

Vodafone will give you 1Gb of data, 600 mins, UL texts at £35/month for 24 months. Cost the handset is £119.

The same on Orange except you get 750Mb and the handset is £99.

Have a look on Three Mobile, they're the cheapest. They do 1GB internet, but you won't get a free phone. Prices below are for the 16GB model:

    £35 a month
    £99 iPhone cost
    900 any network minutes
    5000 texts
    5000 Three-to-Three minutes
    1GB Internet

    £40 a month
    The One Plan
    £59 iPhone cost
    2000 any network minutes
    5000 texts
    5000 Three-to-Three minutes
    1GB Internet

The 16GB phone isn't in stock online, so you'll have to go into a Three store. However, if you buy the 32GB phone, they do have that online, and so you can get (I think for the plans you're looking at) £100 Quidco cashback. Which means you get the better spec phone for the same price.

    Enjoy!
  • Forgot to say, I've had my iPhone for over 8 months, and I've used just under 2GB data in the entire time. 1GB a month should be ample for most users, and I'm a moderate to heavy user.

yes I'm puzzled how some manage to use so much mobile data, tethering via my netbook during the weekdays, I still struggle to use 1gb

I was with O2 for 15 months, got an iPhone and in all that time I used under 2GB and I thought I used it a fair bit.

On reading this it looks like I signed up for my O2 simplicity 12 month contract just in time as I got the £15 a month unlimited data and text with 300 talk time minutes. I got this in April this year.

When it comes to renewal will I be able to say, just carry on or will they boot me off that and get me to have a new contract?
  • Just browsing the internet and sending emails etc 500mb is PLENTY, however trust me once u start watching videos and streaming stuff direct 500mb will only last a few days. For my business i need to be looking at videos throughout the day when on the move which is why im worried. SO t mobile, orange and o2 both have "fair use" policies which im hoping means they will let you go over occasionally but still id rather get a 1gb to start with.

I dont mind paying under £100 for the phone as a one off if i get what i want.

The deal with 3 looks EXCELLENT but i never used to get a signal with them so wouldnt wana get a phone where u need signal all time!! Have they improved at all?

Geekgirl - i would have thought the unlimited thing will no longer be available but i dunno?

If it's for business then , surely you would select a business need tariff or add on, even when the World cup was on, I was not busting any FUP with O2, saying that I was not watching every game
