Sounds a bit like Dev, I imagine.
I like Ian Holloway a lot but he's wrong on this. Firstly, he doesn't know what the Bosman Rule (sic) is and secondly, and more importantly, you can't buy a person in the same way you can buy another asset because to do so is slavery.
The Bosman Ruling was a court ruling on restraint of trade. Marc Bosman was playing at Liege and when his contract ended he asked to move to another club. Liege refused to release his player registration and forced him to sign a new contract, cut his wages by 75% and played him in the reserves! Mr B was understandably quite p!ssed off by this and sued the heck out of the club and UEFA.
Footballers may be a bunch of spoiled, overpaid, 'girly men' who cheat and dive and are generally incredibly annoying. They do however have the right to decide with whom to sign a contract to supply their labour when their contract with their previous employer expires.
Oh and anyone that thinks that Wayne Rooney is a bad player wants their head checking as does anyone who thinks he's the best player in the world.0 -
Not the sort of house previous generation of footballers who were in touch with reality lived in.
The great Eric Cantona used to live in a terraced houses in Salford and Leeds.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. I rest my case M'ud

I'm not the biggest fan of football in general or cheating scabs in particular, but top division football is not your afternoon kickabout with your mates down the pub. Like any sport it takes huge amounts of talent, luck and hard work to make it anywhere, let alone into the premier league. It's just that sometimes that talent and good luck doesn't come in the same package as decency, intelligence or restraint.
To me, football is a 'working class' sport anyway, and for many working class boys it is one of the few high paying jobs that doesn't require academic skills or qualifications.Emergency savings: 4600

.
Does sound like you would imagine Dev to sound doesn't he, you know the garbled rants, and that accent
BTW some United fans think Rooney will be gone next summer, the contract levering a higher fee and the player receiving a higher pay packet without the hassle in the meantime. England perform better without him.
Let him take his ego to Italy or wherever he chooses. He's not even the best player in that appalling house of his.
GG
Well he was when they announced they were getting married, I agree now he is only in the England side because of who he is

Would George Best have behaved so contemptuously?
.
Ah, the chronic alcoholic George Best.
No content with cheating on his wife (Alex), he also beat her repeatedly.
There will be somewhere someone who was probably deprived of a liver transplant & no doubt died because Georgie got his - only to drink again.
Rooney hardly a role model, but to compare him to George Best is laughable.
Football & Footballers not really your subject is it ?0 -

He is one of the few England players who can claim to be "world class" - the other being Ashley Cole.0 -
Cheapest at United are £27 (not a great view).
£30 - £40 would be more typical for the North West main clubs.
for just 90 minutes? Makes theme parks look like incredible value for the whole day!!
I've often wondered, do football stadiums have large high security car parks as there must be some value in all those top of the range cars once all those players are in one place?0
