Maybe so, but I very much doubt that it in any way troubles the Rooney's. Classless they maybe, but they provide entertainment for the masses, are handsomely remunerated for their travails and don't endanger the finances of others unlike those classy chaps in the Square Mile.....

I find it rather odd that so much vitriol is thrown at a working class bloke who gets paid very well to play football for living. Jealousy I suspect.

Although the celebrity-obsession does annoy me a bit, but that's not his fault.

I have no vitriol for him based on his income. I have nothing but contempt for a man who pays to have a threesome with a couple of !!!!!s, and then cries on the end of the bed wailing 'oh woe is me, what have I done', knowing full well it will get out into the media.

Most likely. And that's what is so tragic about modern life. The elevation of mediocrity to positions of respect.

We'll see it again on Sunday with X Factor, when Cheryl freaking Cole sings a new single. It will be embarassing and lip-synched and so awkward that most of us will want to turn away out of shame for her, but because she's a celebrity already - innit - we'll see the fellow judges give her a standing ovation, knowing full well if she had been one of the competitors, Cowell would be slamming her.
