    I've saved the file from that link on my memory stick, going to try installing it in safe mode after I uninstall all the 'junk' programs :) I've told him if he isn't prepared to look after his PC I'm not doing this again!! I've had to do it 2/3 times already and it's a different problem each time, luckily those times I could use malware and sorted the problem

    Which file and which link? As you know, I can't see all of the posts on the thread so I have no idea of what instructions that you are following.

    Ok, I'm off. If it all gets too much, back up his important data, reboot and hit F4 to enter the Recovery partition and run a Factory Restore.

    Then install a better antivirus solution, not AVG.
