    ^^Direct download link; could be corrupted midway so try again. make sure all programs are exited when u run the install.

    If Malwarebytes is not working, follow the guide in post #6 and then download and run Hitman Pro.

    as i say, ensure all programs are exited otherwise the install can cause issues.

    If it still does not update, try running MBAM in Safe (computer) Mode.

    Have been using safe mode since I started trying to fix it and now it won't access any websites so trying to get the connection back on. Have been installing it with nothing else on (I'm using another PC for MSE)

    You have to follow the instruction in post #6 to restore your connection.

    I have done, the button to select the DNS server automatically has always been selected

    could be a corrupted .exe whilst downloading; follow that link.

    Did the servers in the O17 entries correspond with her/your ISP?

    If there are still problems, you can use these servers for now:
