I notice the way you closed the gap when you saw the van was going to follow.

You have 2 - 3 car lengths in front of you in that clip, just imagine how would you feel if one of those two had just squeezed ( or merged ) in front of you? You'd probably feel the same way you made the truck driver feel. Think about what you are doing to other road users.

That's kinda hard to do when your on cruise control at 50mph with your right foot off the accelerator, in fact when the road isn't busy I take that whole stretch on the CC. The car in front may have sped up as the road opened out to two lanes?

Why would you be using cruise control when approaching a merge in turn?

Doesn't alter the fact that you did close the gap.... the camera doesn't lie. Read post #130 I don't know if you accelerated or refused to decelerate but I know you definately did one of those two things.

So you're passed by a car, racing a van, heading towards another car turning right, and as you state the van "overtakes on the chevrons and nearly collides with another car."
And you still roll in with the cruise control set at 50mph?

Next time try braking, let them back in, or at least slow down so you're not the third car in the pile.

After following the car in front, which you're following at 50 as you say, he doesn't slow down or speed up, so how do you pass safely at 50 yourself? Unless you're now speeding to catch the van and join in?
Let them go, the further in front they are, the better your stopping distance when they cause the accident.
  • He overtakes the silver car after the road changes to a NSL(you can see the sign on the right, although its a bit blurry).People are being really anal about this clip trying to catch him out on silly little things.

Well, it's got numbers on, so it's not a black line, so I reckon it's still 50.
Why are we trying to "catch him out"
Just commenting on what we see.

There is a 50 reminder at 1:27 and another at 1:33, he's still in a 50 if it were a change of speed limit there would have been signs on both sides of the road. If anyone wants to check you can check google streetview here where he overtakes
    http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=A449&daddr=A449&hl=en&geocode=FeIaHgMd4vnd_w%3BFU0mHgMdNPrd_w&mra=me&mrcr=0&mrsp=1,0&sz=17&sll=52.307521,-2.229323&sspn=0.005012,0.009645&ie=UTF8&ll=52.305743,-2.229667&spn=0.005012,0.009645&z=17
streetview does not work for me so I have not confirmed that they are 50 signs, they just look like 50 signs to me on the video, and there ain't 2 of them so it can't be a new speed zone.

I'm not bothered if he speeds to overtake, everyone speeds, it's no big deal, at least he waits till it's safe to overtake - on this occasion - on his other videos he doesn't.

The only thing I am trying to point out to him is that he criticises others for doing what he does himself.

    .

I've had a look at streetview, and it remains a 50 zone past the overtake - a little further up the road there are still big 50s painted on the road - so Strider590 fails to score on observation as well.

Which I think is what many of the other people on here have been saying as well - many of the errors or issues he is attempting to highlight in his videos he commits himself - but he doesn't seem to recognise it!
