Thanks for the advice i understand that there are risks involved. As i explained earlier we have a friend witha stud who has waivered the fee and we have another friend whose mother is a reputable breeder and has offered all her help aswell as equipment. This is really all getting out of hand now.All we did was say we were considering it.Can we please drop the dog breeding thing as i really feel i shouldnt have to answer to people i dont know about something that really doesnt concern them. This surely is about debt not my private life. But thanks for the info.xx-Tina-xx wrote:I HAVE bred dogs in the past, so yeah, I do feel i'm able to give advice
What will you do if your beloved pet needs a C-Section or runs into complications? You say that shes a family pet... In my opinion you shouldn't breed family pets if losing them is going to cause more heartache than the fee you get for a puppy
Are you in a position to offer a guarantee to the potential purchaser for the puppies? What if 6 months down the line the buyer comes back to you because the puppy has eye/ear problems etc? Will you be in a position to give a refund to them AND have to rehouse the dog?
How will you be able to afford a pregnant b*tch? They eat 3-4 times as much when pregnant
How will afford all the equipment need to safely and successfully breed? A whelping box, heat lamps etc etc
Do you already have homes for the puppies? Its pointless breeding and then not being able to home them
How do you plan to pay for the Stud? Breeders very rarely offer up their services for free and usually expect either the pick of the litter, or the cost of a pup in cash
How will you cope with the many sleepless nights you'll have? Its not ideal, especially as you are actively looking for work. Breeding is a FULL TIME job and you'll need to take a week off work at least around the due date
These are just a few thoughts I came up with... Then you have all the extras like the washing machine being on constantly washing bedding, emergency visits to the vet, the heartache of a dead puppy, failing puppy syndrome... I could go on and on and on
Its estimated that the cost to breed a dog actually outweighs the payment you'll get back for the pups (especially for 'one off' breeding)... Plus the cost you'll get for the pups would be considerably less because you've failed to get them innoculated and registered
But... if you still choose to go ahead... then Good LuckDEBT £45,OOO AT 9/10/06:mad: HERES TO A FRESH START!0

I think everyones TRYING to give you some good advice - and you shhould try not to take it personally
no ones judging you as a person, just trying to help your situation.
Whatever was said on the other thread, is not available anymore... no one on this thread has tried to tell you to get rid of your dog... so i think that should be left out of this thread. Im sure your angry and upset with whoever said it but on this thread we're only trying to help.
I think maybe the dog issue is spiralling out of control and whatever you decide to do then thats your choice - but please, take heed to some of the comments made and think it throught thoroughly.
Please dont feel everyones 'gangin up' on you... we're really only here to try to help and find a solution to the mess!!:DJoined September 2006: £18800.00 in debt:eek:

Congratulations on the Tax Credit increase! It always pay to give them a call and check if they've got their calculations right :T
With regards to commenting on your private life, with all due respect... This is a public forum... If you post something then you have to be fair game to expect people to disagree with you else the whole concept of debate is pointless. If someone offers you advice that you choose not to take, then thats your prerogative. My moral opinion on dog breeding for profit is irrelevant... You (like us all) have come on here for advice on how to cut down your debt... I was simply adding that its likely to add to your debt but you've obviously looked into it, so like I said before.. Good Luck 0 0

On your first SOA you included school meals for the children but this doesn't seem to appear on your revised SOA. Have you arranged free school meals?0

Sorry back to dog breeding but as I started the comments on this feel I have to reply. I misread your post about the papers as a typing error and that hadf was half meaning that you had paid half for your dog and could get the papers later by paying more money. To answer your question "Do I know what I'm on about" - I have had dogs all my life and have been involved in showing, breeding some litters and judging dogs for nearly 30 years.0

Have you actually applied school meals and been turned down?
i only ask because imn my area you are entitled to free school meals even if you are working but on a low income. I think my area states that if you get tax credit but are earning less than £14000 a year you can still get free school meals.0

If you have somewhere to park your car off road then you can sign a SORN form to say it is not in use and parked off the road.
Then you don;t need to pay tax as long as you are not using the car.0
