            Hi there,
Sorry, i have to say.. no-one on this thread has suggested you get rid of your dog.... just to really think through the costs of breeding her!!!
I can fully understand not getting rid of your dog - i have a cat and a dog and would never ever part with them... but no one on this thread has asked you to do that??? Joined September 2006: £18800.00 in debt:eek: Joined September 2006: £18800.00 in debt:eek:

We have all her papers.lavidaloca wrote:You need to rethink this. You do not have any papers for your !!!!!, you hope the breeder will sell you the papers if she gets pregnant. Any reputable breeder would not want you to use the dog down the road. What if you can't sell the puppies - a litter of puppies after weaning, reared correctly, can soon start costing a lot of money. Also do you have the space and what if, God forbid, something happens to your precious pet. A litter of puppies won't calm her down but she could be a neurotic mum who could reject the puppies and then you have to hand feed and if that happens you'll all have a fulltime job. A pet !!!!! doesn't need a litter of pups. Please do not go down this road until you have all your finances sorted out and money in the bank.
I wish you and your family well and hope your husbands health improves.DEBT £45,OOO AT 9/10/06:mad: HERES TO A FRESH START!0

I feel that I have to reply to your post. I have been on this board for some time and feel personaly very offended by your comments regarding the issue of your dog. Ever since I have been on here I have tried to offer support and assistance. I am NEVER nasty as I feel we all have enough to contend with. Also, I never judge peoples actions we all make our own choices and have to live with them.BUT... What this board does is try to offer helpful advice gleaned by our own mistakes. There are HUNDREDS of breed rescue societies in England we used to have 3 pedrigee dogs all with papers as long as their arms ALL RESCUE dogs. Money can do a lot but it having it does not necessarily make you value your "possessions" any more than anybody else. I feel that if anybody posts an opinion that is not in total agreement with you then you take it as a personal insult. That is not the case. I know just how difficult it is when illness strikes -to give you a bit of background Almost 6years ago my husband came home from school saying that he didn't fel very well within 36hours he was in intensive care on a drip with me being told that the next 48hours would be crucial. Our lives were turned upside down in an instant. So please don't think i'm just spouting off giving you poor advice. By the way even with DH at deaths door(thats how it felt at the time) I still had to leave the hospital to come back and sort out the animals(we have a lot of cats with health problems) I'm sorry that this is so long and rambling, but i'm really upset. Everything i've said was said with good intentions, and without being judgemental. Certainly as you said shes your dog and yes you can do exactly what you like with her. People on here do try to help but that means sometimes the advice or opinions are not what we may always want to hear. That dosn't make them wrong though. They can leave their mum at 6 weeks shes registered to breed already and you dont have to pay for the pups to have injections as the new buyers can do this as we did.We know someone that can deliver the pups and all should be well.DEBT £45,OOO AT 9/10/06:mad: HERES TO A FRESH START!0

Oh i wasnt having a go.I think this has spiralled i just happened to mention that we may breed her and everyone starts saying we dont know what are doing.Maybe i do take things to personally thats just me .At the end of the day its something were considering.Everyones entitled to have their say but i dont feel i should have to answer to anyone on certain matters.Im here to seek advice support and help with debt not my life matters. At the end of the day were all in the same boat whether its £5000 debt or £500000 debt. Were making changes slowly but changing our lives radically.I hope your oh is well and im sorry if i hurt your feelings.xanniestar wrote:I feel that I have to reply to your post. I HAVE bred dogs in the past, so yeah, I do feel i'm able to give advice
What will you do if your beloved pet needs a C-Section or runs into complications? You say that shes a family pet... In my opinion you shouldn't breed family pets if losing them is going to cause more heartache than the fee you get for a puppy
Are you in a position to offer a guarantee to the potential purchaser for the puppies? What if 6 months down the line the buyer comes back to you because the puppy has eye/ear problems etc? Will you be in a position to give a refund to them AND have to rehouse the dog?
How will you be able to afford a pregnant b*tch? They eat 3-4 times as much when pregnant
How will afford all the equipment need to safely and successfully breed? A whelping box, heat lamps etc etc
Do you already have homes for the puppies? Its pointless breeding and then not being able to home them
How do you plan to pay for the Stud? Breeders very rarely offer up their services for free and usually expect either the pick of the litter, or the cost of a pup in cash
How will you cope with the many sleepless nights you'll have? Its not ideal, especially as you are actively looking for work. Breeding is a FULL TIME job and you'll need to take a week off work at least around the due date
These are just a few thoughts I came up with... Then you have all the extras like the washing machine being on constantly washing bedding, emergency visits to the vet, the heartache of a dead puppy, failing puppy syndrome... I could go on and on and on
Its estimated that the cost to breed a dog actually outweighs the payment you'll get back for the pups (especially for 'one off' breeding)... Plus the cost you'll get for the pups would be considerably less because you've failed to get them innoculated and registered
But... if you still choose to go ahead... then Good Luck0
