Has anyone else noticed that the large chocolate birthday cake which was £6.50 on Wednesday has risen to £7.50 on Friday, isn't that 15%
The 12 pk of toilet rolls went up from £1.29 to £1.46, isn't that 7.5%
I went to buy the loo rolls in Asda instead and found that they had increased from £1.29 to £1.46 !!! Hmmmm0 -
Persil small and mighty 58 wash 1896ml? £12 in tesco
9.99 in both Asda and Sainsburys."Save the cheerleader - Save the world"0 -
Just found this post today as I'd just seen an advert for Tesco on TV saying all these items are half price. What makes me wonder is what items are they going to up up to cover it.
I don't know if it's true but we have only a Tesco where we live and becuase they have no competition, their prices seem through the roof.
I have noticed that their petrol is 5p a litre more expensive than a Tesco garage in Exeter. All of the other garages seem to be the same price as them.
There's no way I would do a monthly shop in Tesco as I find Asda much cheaper and with a better choice.0 -

They won't need to put any other prices up, the 'half price' products would previously have been sold at an inflated price before the offer started.
E.g. 4x Baked Beans = £1.51 but then they increase this to £2.96 just before advertising the beans at half price so when the SEL is put up advertising the beans at £1.48 (half price) it looks like a good deal when in fact your only saving 3p off the orginal price!0 -
I find Tescos very expensive for things like cereal, pop, juice, crisps etc. I use to live near one at Uni & NEVER used it because our bill would for £5-£10 more than ASDA.Now I am employed, lets get rid of this student debt!0

Yep I think Tesco is expensive too. A few years back when the price of everything first started to rise dramatically I noticed Sainsbury's weren't raising theirs at the same rate and I still find them cheap now. Asda is cheap but I'm not impressed with my local one, had a few bad quality items from there and it isn't good value if you can't eat it!* I like Morrisons shops & products and their prices are cheap too, plus their offers seem to be on products I actually buy regularly. But there isn't one in walking distance or on a direct bus route so I don't go often.
*Plus the Asda seems to attract unpleasant shoppers - the Sainsbury's and Lidl just down the road are a much nicer experience as well as cheaper!Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.0 -
Hi All,
first post but been reading the forums for a long time!
I personally find Tesco a lot cheaper, but I am a vegetarian so buy little meat - just for kids sandwiches or bbq's..
I have just been trying out the supermarket comparison site and so far my basket is nearly 50 % cheaper than Asda / sainsburys / Ocado!
I do tend to buy what ever is on offer however and have no brand loyalty at all!0 -

Ah, cereal, pop, juice, crisps etc. There's nothing like a student diet is there?0 -
I found that out a few years ago when a freind suggested shipping in Iceland. Their ready meals are a pound and Morrisons are £2.20. Only go in now for vegetables & a few other items.Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0

Funny that after switching to asda over a year ago when the double the difference offer ended I have come back to tesco last 3 weeks. I have signed up for the 13 week delivery saver too. I noticed that asda have more offers, yes. But I don't want to fill my house up with coke and Pringles, cheese strings and sugar filled cereal. The proper food seems a good price at the moment. And I think some of he new 'everyday value' items are looking like they are sold at a loss so buying stocks of them. I think it depends on what you are looking to buy. When I make homemade pizzas I can still make it cheapest from sainsburys.
I will still check mysupermarket for the pricey stuff like washing powder and dishwasher tablets though.0
