  • Tescos are the most expensive, and their bogof offers arent as good as Morrisons. Tescos do seem to have the monopoly where I live as they have stores everywhere here, two stores within a mile and half of where I am now.

I do shop at tescos for my little bits and bobs shop, which is completely out of convieneience as i work long hours and dont fancy driving the extra 8 miles through a city centre to get to morrisons. I will do morrisons once a month where I stock up beyond belief and I do honestly believe that Morrisons food is far superior to Tescos. There is not a single thing I like about tescos - even to the fact that around 5-6pm they hardly seem to have any cashiers on whatsoever, so rushing in to get a few bits ater work can leave you standing in a very lenthy queue, even at self service. At morrisons I never feel this, and always feel satisfied with the amount of money ive spent v's the things ive actually brought, but a lot of time, at tescos i feel like ive been ripped off!

Yes tesco is expensive but then I find Morrisons are increasing their prices also. I went to ASDA for the first time last weekend to do a weekly shop and was surprised to get so much more for my money - couldn't do it every week though as the nearest to me is many miles away.

Yeah Tescos have definitely gone up (although not as much as Lidl which used to be my favorite budget supermarket).. Sainsburys is the best at the moment -- not only it is cheaper but their Basics line is generally way above Tesco's Value quality-wise. Both has been increasing prices over the time and I've noticed a constant price matching going on, often pence by pence. One might think they've got the same supplier and same stock but not really so.

I suppose a lot depends on what competition there is in the area. We have a middling size Tesco's and a small Morrisons. To shop anywhere else would cost extra in terms of time & travel costs. In general their prices are pretty much the same, I suppose they keep an eye on each other locally.
I know it's perhaps unusual, but here I find Tesco's much better for veg. The stuff I have bought from Morrisons is usually more expensive & goes off very quickly too. I usually find I can buy a bag of potatoes for around the £1 mark at Tesco's but nearer £2 in Morrisons. Meat I generally buy from Morrisons. It does tend to be more expensive but the quality is better.
I tend to shop according to offers. I've recently stocked up for a couple of months on loo roll and laundry products in Tesco's when they were on offer & baked beans in Morrisons. This week I was going to buy Lurpak from Morrisons. Normally £2.80 in both shops, but this week £2 in Morrisons. However, I've just checked Tesco's site & they have Lurpak at 2 for £3, so I'll get some there instead. :)

Here too, reductions are much better in Tesco's. Prices are usually slashed by at least half, often much more towards the end of the day, whereas Morrisons only usually tend to cut by 10 or 20p.

I think it depends on offers and whether you buy own brand or posh brands...

We shop at Tesco now becasue we were getting fed up with the quality of Asda, yes it might be cheap but it's cheap for a reason...Even one of the head honchos of Asda said that Asda stuff tasted cheap, especially the fruit and veg....

We had to shop at Morrisons a few weeks ago and the bill was a lot more compared to our Tesco bill.. We use mysupermarket too and Tesco consistently come up cheaper which we were surprised at as we had always assumed Asda were cheaper....

So now we get a cheaper shop and points too....

In all stores, some items are cheaper and some are more expensive. You need to do your own market research to get best price.
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

I think it depends on what you actually buy, for us morrisons and sainsburys are cheaper and tesco would cost us £18 more for our shop.

I find that tesco has got a lot more expensive in the last year I suppose. The problem is they are putting prices up and where that used to be by 2p or the like, they are now whacking 50p or £1 on things. I do watch my prices when I am shopping so notice this. I try as best I can to go to all the local supermarkets (tesco, morrisons, co-op, budgens and waitrose) and just get the offer stuff. Ok if you have the time and can be bothered!

I find them average! Most of the supermarkets are swings and roundabouts, if you can be bother to shop in them all you get the best prices if not somethings are cheaper some more expensive.
I tend to find Salisbury's more expensive. My local Co-op is very expensive. Waitrose is expensive but the do have some nice and different things.

I don't like Asda as I find most of the food very basic so can't really comment on their prices. I shop at Morrison's once in a while, mainly when they have a good offer on. I do not find there Fruit and Vegetables to be very good they do not seem to keep long.
I do buy the odd things from Aldi and Lidl, you can pick up some very good items but not everything is cheaper. Not keen on Lidl veg don't know if I have ever bought veg from Aldi
Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.

I always shop in Tesco however think I might need to change have noticed price increases on lots of products recently. I went to Asda the other day because it is nearer my work and found it to be much cheaper.
