    You ok EB? x

Yes hun, I'm fine. I think I must be in a bit of shcok as to the state of my affairs though, as I am still both incredulous and bemused at how I have racked up so much debt. Is it weird that I go from feeling mortified with embarrassement to actually finding it quite amusing? I am not sure amusing is the right word, but when i think of it it doesnt seem real at all.

But goes to show how badly I have managed up until the LBM as payday tomorrow so i just put all the transfers in hand and so pleased to see the improvement already.

Of course, throughout the month the overdraft will fluctuate so perhaps by the end of the month it will be back up at the limit, but that's because I'd rather see it coming off the Egg card than the O/D really (cheaper interest rate and all).

    Thanks for asking xxx

It's definitely an up and down thing isn't it? Had to ask as you sounded down.

I've been in debt a long time now and have always dealt with it to a certain extent, but never truly set out to bust it as I have this time.

When I first came back from Africa I really did go into shock when I added up the figures (they were 10K higher than I thought they would be ) and that first month back I still had no money as I didn't get paid till the end of the month so I also felt a bit helpless.

I then set out on an all attack, I paid off an average of £1,200 a month...no mean feat when my take home from my main job was only £1,268!

I really thought that throwing all and then some was the answer.

I've now settled in for the long haul, it's gonna be tough and I'll keep pushing but I'm also gonna allow myself some slack, otherwise I'd go mad. I also can't help but be irritatingly optimistic about things and tend to laugh when I probably shouldn't be so I can fully understand you being amused at times.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I've been through shock, disbelief, anger, laughter, excitement, joy at the smallest of triumphs money wise, and it can be tough (I have stamped my foot and been in tears) but overall I'm determined to enjoy the time, I have to go through with doing this so I may as well have fun.

And as always, I've rambled and completely lost the point of what I was trying to say! :rotfl:

Glad your ok EB, and don't ever worry bout having a whinge if any of its ever getting you down x

Hi I'm a 'newbie' on here ,

1st time i've actually posted something so it's a step towards freedom! Felt the urge to post on this diary cos visiting Borneo is on my 'bucket' list and hopefully once I've actually dealt with my debt it might not just be a pipe dream!
Will attempt to subscribe and follow with interest.......I'm guessing the next step for me will be to post what my debts actually are....a bit scary but sooooo glad I've found this site !!!

Hi there! Welcome along :D, we all love thread newbies *nods*

Don't ever feel ashamed/embarassed about posting figures, as you can see, we are all in the same boat to varying degrees, sharing ups and downs and money saving ideas is what keeps us on the straight and narrow ;)

Hey EB, only just seen this :(.

I know EXACTLY what you mean, I think the finding it amusing is the shock element. When I first went to payplan and had to get all my balances together I just could NOT believe it, I seriously thought someone must have stolen my identity or something! Obviously i knew I had been spending on the accounts but to actually see how much in black and white was actually sickening.

Fortunately after arranging the DMP I pretty much could bury my head in the sand again as it was all taken care off so I just forgot about it...which is why I'm here 4 years too late really but the first step is realising that there is a problem, once that's done the rest isn't plain sailing but certainly being able to talk to other people in the same boat helps.

    Chin up my love x
