I have had exactly the same problem, the sensor barely picked us up. i am a little concerned though that game won't refund if the software seal has been broken.

Unfortunately I doubt they will take it back, the best you probably get is the trade in valve, which will be quiet a bit lower than the price you paid.

You may be better off trying to sell it on Amazon or eBay
  • ordered from Game, tracked all the way via parcelforce, arrived yesterday afternoon

am very impressed with it - we have about 6/7 foot to use to play with it, which is enough for me and my girlfriend to play side by side

but in terms of tech - it destroys the wii - really impressed with how well it picked us up / voice commands work - was worried it was going to be a bit gimmicky

I agree the voice function is very impressive, especially the way it filters background noise out. The only function that does not seem to work that well is the facial recognition, but I think a update will come out sion to help improve that.
  • Another word of warning, this time about connectivity to the console.

If you buy the bundle version (new console and kinect) the kinect unit will only work on the new console. This is because the connector to the console is a shape which only fits on the new console.

If you buy the kinect unit on it's own it comes with an adapter that you can plug into the old style console.

As a result, if for example you have 2 children, one already has the old 360 and for the second you are buying the new xbox with kinect, don't plan on the two kids sharing one kinect - you'll need to buy one separately for the old console.

I guess that's another Microsoft way of generating even more cash!!

Things like facial recognition will only work properly in adequate light - usually meaning you'll need to re-arrange your room......
Too much shade or too bright and it won't detect properly.

    Just an update on stock

There appears to be plenty in Argos and on Amazon. Most other retailers are pretty well sold up - it seems!!
Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies

Or the flip side is keeping an unrequired power adapter and cabling out of landfill.

And it's cheaper too buying them in a bundle. The 4gb Kinect bundle is £249. The Kinect is £129 and the 4gb Xbox is £149. Buying them together saves you £30.

If you can afford one xbox for each child I think this would be the least of your worries!
