There is no definitive answer, maybe maybe not, you will just need to try.
Depends on signal strength, building structure and the angle of alignment, ie are you aiming through one wall or through an entire row of terraces?0 -
All things being equal Size = Signal gain, they should quote a figure in dB more = stronger.
But it depends heavily on your house structure and angle of alignment as you may also need to aim it through all your neighbours walls whilst your parents signal may be coming straight through only one wall.0 -
Go to this website http://www.bbc.co.uk/reception/transmitters/tv/ and find your nearest transmitter.
Depending how close it is to you will be the major factor in deciding if you can use an indoor aerial.
Setting up is just a matter of using a compass and aligning as accurately as possible.
I live 15 miles from a transmitter and have a loft aerial. I have also, in the past used a set top aerial and it worked for me.
Possibly ask some of your neighbours to see if they have indoor aerials with good reception.0 -
There is no guarantee with a set top aerial depends on your area
I can see transmitter from our bedroom window around (1.4 miles away) yet it was very hit n miss with two aerials we had spare0 -
I'm in a good reception area and use this aerial on the TV in the kitchen...

Sorry but i can't find the answer elsewhere!
We have sky at the moment but I want to set up freeview in my room upstairs (don't want multiroom).
Problem is there is no external aerial. Can I set up freeview with a normal internal aeriel and if so which would be the best one? and how would i do it?
Hope someone can confirm.
Cheers.
As I mentioned to someone in another thread, try the indoor aerials that the supermarkets sell, worked for me. If they don't work then just return them.DEBT FREE BY 60Starting Debt 21st August 2019 = £11,024

I'm just looking at the aerial I use at school (it's my lunch break!) and it is a MAGNAVOX MNT1020/05 that I purchased in March 2008 from Asda for £5.50... I have the receipt in my drawer just in case I have to prove it is my own personal property. The Freeview set top box was only £15.97... what a bargain they were!DEBT FREE BY 60Starting Debt 21st August 2019 = £11,024
