What unfortunate that they can't do it? First post in above link solves the problem. What more do you want, did you follow the instructions?I'm not unique if you dont believe me: http://www.laptopmag.com/advice/tips/how-to-copy-and-paste-on-android-phones.aspx
How ever much you dont want it to be true copy and paste exists in android.
yes, I know copy/paste exists is Android, I've had most handsets since the G1, but the Android copy/paste is an ill-conceived, badly implemented version that does not work in the stock Email app for body text or in the official Gmail app at all.Maybe you should have read the first link it tells you how to do it.:rotfl::T:j
Did you read the first link properly?
It explains as follows:If you open the keyboard and hold the shift key you can then touch the screen and drag to highlight the text you want to copy. and when you lift your finger the highlighted text will be automatically copied to the clipboard.
Neither the San Fran or Desire have a physical keyboard so sorry, you fail.Accept it, you bought an iphone because you couldn't work out how to use google properly;)
no, again you are wrong, I can use google, android and gmail quite well, and I bought an iPhone ( actually a number of them going all the way back to the original 2G because of the streamlined, totally integrated system they use across all models (unlike Android, where it's a minefield of 1.5, 1.6, 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 models).
I will repeat again, neither 2.1 or 2.2 Android on the desire allow full unrestricted copy paste in email.
I do like my Android handsets but they are like unpolished diamonds against the polished finish that is iOS).====0 -

OK we're going over the same ground here so for the second last time; If its not possible to copy and paste from the stock email app........ How come I can copy and paste from the stock app?????????????????????????????
Ill conceived, what exactly does the iphone do that is so much better than android? Does it do it by mind control? Does it give you an orgasm whilst copying and pasting something??? I'm intrigued!
Thats possibly.... just a guess here but.... it might just have something to do with the fact that the link you posted wasn't about the desire or san fran??? Shock  but its true. The thread talks about the droid.Did you read the first link properly?
It explains as follows:
Neither the San Fran or Desire have a physical keyboard so sorry, you fail.
Now its just me but if I was looking for the answer to cut and paste for the desire or san fran maybe I might google for those particular handsets instead of one I don't have??? Make sense?
The question is why did you post that link if it was nothing to do with your problem? The op in that thread has his answer copy and paste sorted.
Only fails I see is your ability to use the copy and paste function in android on your two hansets and your fail at googling a solution for those handsets..
You like to be mollycoddled by apple, rocked in their arms of DRM cuddliness, told what you can do (and can't) with and do on your hardware which really isn't yours since apple own it and by extension YOU! I understand. Sorry got a bit carried away bit like you with "minefield".no, again you are wrong, I can use google, android and gmail quite well, and I bought an iPhone ( actually a number of them going all the way back to the original 2G because of the streamlined, totally integrated system they use across all models (unlike Android, where it's a minefield of 1.5, 1.6, 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 models).

Personally android is the easiest minefield I've ever had to negotiate:
Me: What version of android is this running?
Sales Person: 1.6
Me: Ok I don't want 1.6 what do you have with 2.2?
Sales Person: This.
Me: I'll take it!:T
Easy!;) I'm starting to see if the above is too difficult for you why you'd have problems with copy and paste.:rotfl:
But wait.... I will repeat for the last time: If its not possible to copy and paste from the stock email app........ How come I can copy and paste from the stock app?????????????????????????????
Edited you last post to reflect reality:
Good speaking.I do like my Android handsets but they are like [STRIKE]unpolished diamonds[/STRIKE] open, flexible, and usable against the [STRIKE]polished finish[/STRIKE] restricted, DRM'd, overly expensive, apple controls everything you do software that is iOS).0 -
I bet the OP is confused now.........0

Actually I'm no fan boy, I dislike Jobs and his control freakery with a passion. I also have 2 Android devices (an htc Desire and a Orange San Francisco) and while they are good to use, android is not better than ios, <snip>
I recently got so frustrated with the touch keyboards on android I ended up buying an iPhone 4, something I vowed not to do because I think that Jobs is a profiteering swindler charging over the odds for his products, but he gets away with it because the iPhone / iPad just does the little things better.
I am so glad I am not the only one who thinks this.
I too am no Apple fan boi. Being a bit of a gadget freak, I purchased a HTC Desire and handed my old iPhone 3G to my daughter.
Over the next week I was buried deep inside android forums, asking how to do this/that & the other. I ended up getting told I must be "technically incompetent" which must be news to all my mates & my employer who pay me a lot of money to be as geeky as geeks can be!
I didn't particularly like the "small" bugs like the default SMS app still telling me I had an unread text after I read it. (My friend's Desire had same bug). The reply from the forums was to use another app.
Another one which particularly annoyed was the Facebook sync which then meant if my carrier text me, it would pick a random facebook contact and say it was from him/her.
And for some ungodly reason my typing accuracy dropped dramatically despite using the calibration tool. I even tried different keyboards!
Compare that to my DD who at 13 yrs old, plugged the iPhone into the PC, showed her how to sync with iTunes and erm...that was it. She was off.
In the end I was so exasperated that I returned the Desire and purchased a new 3GS. I'd have taken the 3G back of DD but she shot me a look which said "Out of my cold dead clammy hands will you!!!!!"
I thought at the time and still think now that Android is best suited for a tablet. I await the android tablets with great anticipation. If they prove to be just as pants as the Desire then I'll get the next version of iPad. I really think Apple missed a trick not putting a camera or a SD socket. On a phone I don't mind the lack of a SD card but on a tablet, I'd like to be able to plug in photos or videos via SD and watch them on the tablet.0 -

You'll have to be specific where using the copy and paste function on Android fails to operate correctly, because I like 23n1th, have just had no problem in copying and pasting the entire body of an email from Gmail into another web based email service, an SMS message, the address bar of the browser and even a Facebook status in an uncomplicated manner.0 -
I have an iPad and am typing this reply from it.
I am a die hard PC type person and bought an iPad for my wife as she likes toys and I was lucky enough to be given a iPad 32gb 3G as a reward from work.
My observations are that it is a great consumer of information: scanning the Internet is great, the applications are very good. Typing is less of a pain than i thought it would be. It can also integrate to Exchange to get work email as well as Pop and Yahoo/google mail. The battery life is very good.
Downsides is that it doesn't multitask And isn't really that work email friendly: what i want to happen is when a new push email is received for the email application to float over whatever i have open. It is a pain to edit word documents having to use both some sort of converter and a cloud place to store them.
Overall i think it is great and use it all the time but couldn't do without my laptop.

Even if I was given an Apple product I would not want to accept it nor use it, if I had a choice.
The lock in and lack of freedom is something which, on principle, I strongly dislike. Similarly with certain foods and other products, I will not purchase nor support some of them. Basically because of how they are created, or if food, maybe how the animals were treated or similar.
In some ways, Apple products are superior, but like jewel encrusted handcuffs, I say no thank you!
There are usually compelling reasons to give up your freedom.0 -

Hello All,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you....
I took the plunge and bought myself and Ipad, 32GB 3G and it's amazing... Never had any dealings with Apple products before and have found the whole device so easy to use, very intuitive etc.
A couple of questions though...
When I try and import some Powerpoint presentations it won't accept some of them, something along the lines of "not supported" equally some have come on with no issues.
Any ideas?
With regards to PowerPoint presentations with video content, how do you bring the whole file across to include the videos?
Also, cases, I bought the standard apple ipad case and its good but does some to get very dirty, a bit of a dust magnet. What cases do you guys use?
Last question.... screen protector.. Are they worth using?
Thanks again0
