If you're around Gill, I think something like this would be a good addition to the treasure basket. Poundland do them. Also a balloon whisk would be good (did someone already say that). Maybe some pieces of fabrics, like fleece, satin etc. I'm planning to do one for H.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator

strawberrypud - that's exactly the time we did cold-turkey dummy removal for the same reason (insane amounts of nightly wake-ups to reinsert). It actually wasn't that bad, as once you get past the first 2-3 nights they pretty much forget they've ever had one! I personally would recommend doing it sooner rather than later, as I think it must be harder to wean an older child off of one.
always - with the washables...what about getting a set of one-sized nappies to use for them both? That way you can pull from the same stash. I don't think it could be that much harder - just double the laundry (but since a load of nappies only takes up half the washer, it's still the same number of loads and water usage, right?
). Gosh, good luck! I go back to work next week, so am jealous of you again.

At nursery they have lots of different treasure baskets - one with wooden stuff, one with phones and remotes and things, one with bottles filled with lots of different things. I made a bottles ones - I saved lots of small coke bottles and filled them all with different things that make different noises (screws, cocktail sticks, silk flowers, wooden beads water and glitter, plus various bits from the kitchen)

Just ignore her. Let it flow in one ear and out the other and don't even let it bother you as she's not worth it.
According to my MIL, I'm a crap mother, live in a filthy house, I'm obese and so on. Yeah right!Hello everyone! We just got back from the park, on our way there a man with his wife in full hijab (face covered and everything) stopped us to say how Miss Molly is beautiful and reminds him of his daughter the same age who's at home in the UAE. Then he bent down to chat to Molly, patted her head and before I could react leaned over and kissed her forehead!!
Then he took a mobile phone picture of his wife with her and insisted on putting €10 in Molly's coat pocket. I am not sure what to think :rotfl:
The Turkish Muslim men are super friendly with little children like that. I lost count of how many hugs and kisses Charlotte got, and she was given sweets, ice cream, lollies, coins, Turkish Eye charms and all sorts!
After living here where sadly a man can't look at a child in case people think he's a pervert, it was strange but nice for men to be all over her. She loved it mind
Becles - your insomnia sounds just like my mum and before that my g'ma, they always complained about early hours waking. Mum says it's because she has stuff on her mind, usually going over the day's events and worrying about tomorrow, is that it? Logically talking things through with her sometimes helps.
I don't seem to be thinking of things or worrying about things. I'm just wide awake and ready to get up, even though I've only had a couple of hours sleep?!
Congrats on your lovely news xxI would have to say something tho, I've had my fair share of arguments with MIL and there is one brewing right now.
the woman is a moron! She had Chris on Sat night and I met her at church to pick him up, I got Chris out of the car and she had strapped him in only with the lap part of the belt!
I'd be furious about that. I'd tell her you'll stop her from seeing him if she's going to put him at risk like that.threemuttleys wrote: »
Im finding it difficult to know what to "do" to entertain him when he is awake...im desperate to ensure that he develops properly, but most of the toys that are from birth, arent really suitable for a baby who cannot sit up, or doesnt yet have hand co ordintation.
Just show him different things, especially brightly coloured things. Babies like looking at stuff and taking it all in. Charlotte used to love looking at a multi coloured chew toy belonging to my dog
Have you got any picture books? You could show him books and just talk about the pictures. He won't understand yet, but it will get him used to books.strawberrypud wrote: »My 5 month old has a dummy to help her get off to sleep but it is creating more problems than helping.
Sorry I can't help as none of mine had dummies. I just wanted to say I hope you find a solution as it sounds like you are having a difficult time.
Charlotte's parents evening at nursery went really well. She's independent and manages to do stuff herself, like if they are painting, she can put on an apron and stuff herself. She's sociable and is making friends and is fitting in well. She likes the role play corner and is doing lots of imaginative things. The teacher is impressed with her conversation skills and her manners, and said she's generally a happy and sunny girl :cool:Here I go again on my own....0 -

hi when did everyone's children's c teeth come through? we have 16 (ferg) so just waiting for those but i think they are more painful according to what I've read. Would folk agree?
Also any tips on a way of explaining the difference between 'more' and 'again' I can only think of quite grown-up ways to explain it...:o:)

Which teeth are they in a moronic descriptive way Weezl? I found the pointy vampire teeth gave Caitlyn the most gyp...
And do they need to know the difference between more and again at this age? I think it's something that just becomes clearer as you use them the correct way...
Says the woman who's child doesn't say more... Or again... Or pretty much anything else...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls...
