Can I have some advice please re food purees? anyone who's a half decent cook can probably help me, even if they did BLW!

I'm ready to start adding meat to T's veggies, I'm thinking chicken initially, followed by white fish. As I have quite a lot of veg in the freezer rather than cooking up 'meals' to freeze I was thinking of pureeing some chicken and freezing so that I can give him say a cube of chicken, cube of sweet potato and cube of brocoli. Does this sound ok? Any reasons why it wouldn't work? Or would I be better mixing the chicken with something eg apple or potato before freezing?

I've googled it and from what I can understand it seems like it should be ok but any personal experience/advice much appreciate :)

Don't see why not gill :) If you wanted to mix it together you could always do that when they're thawed. Would he eat 3 cubes? If he eats less than that then mixing before freezing would mean less waste, but no problem if he eats it all.

  • I am probably the worst person to answer since I don't eat meat, but would it be hard to puree the chicken on its own? It might be easier to do it once mixed with something moist......

    Oh quiet morning!
SOM - What would you recommend for a car seat for a 4 year old? I'd prefer it to have a back and sides. My car has Isofix.

    Thanks

As long as she is over 15kg then a high back booster is your best choice. If its isofix your really after then the Britax Kidfix is a good choice, other wise non isofix the Maxi Cosi Rodi XR is pretty good and has a recline too. There replacing the current model too so should be able to get some bargains. January is also a good time for car seat bargains, but same offer to you if you decide to buy from MC let me know ;). Sami's recoomendation of the evolva is also good if LO is under 15kg, but you cant use the harness past 18kg so if she is closer to that you wont get much use from it.

I've been told that booster cushions are no longer going to be made in the UK or allowed to be sold either. Not sure the exact details but IMO its a good thing. Boosters with full backs are so much safer.

Poor Krystal :( I spent so much of my life not realising how significant and sensitive an issue sleep could become...!

This morning E came got me at 6.40ish, but then as we walked to the kitchen for breakfast he went into his nursery instead, climbed into bed and said "SLEEPY time". So I tucked him in and went back to bed... 10 mins later he reappeared though.

I was a bit of a zombie, had him watching cbeebies while I tried to wake up - then he climbed into my lap with a book to read, I groaned and he says "Ohhh POOR dadden pat pat gentle poor dadden now READ IT.".

Oh dear but LOL, hope you get some sleep soon x Oh and good luck getting the seats in the car! We would have this issue too.

Sami - the 5 year recommendation isnt strictly adhered to by many but it basically is there to get people to update there car seats so that they meet the latest test standards and are safe. If your car seat is still being sold 5 years after you bought it and you know yours hasnt been comprimised anyway (left in a garage going mouldy, dropped or knocked etc etc), then there isnt a reason you couldn't use it.

gill - sorry no advice on the pureeing.

Got a lie in this morning, OH got up with T and gave her breakfast :D Been out shopping while he bathed and dressed her and came home to a big grin and the two of them playing on the floor. Bought some large storage containers at Tesco, have decided to pack up the computer desk (cabinet) and get shot of it now that the desk top has died. But means we can replace it with a table so we can sitand eat dinner together :) So only issue now is getting shot of the thing!
