Sounds like a good idea - I have a bit of paper somewhere my mum gave me with a list of a few websites which have various literacy type things (she does learning support in a secondary school and does lots of stuff with the children who come in really behind on literacy and she thought I'd find them useful for Alice) so I'll have a search for it and post you the links. Some advice pretty please. :A
Was considering getting a tutor for Ben once a week to get his literacy level up a little. At the moment with the level he's at he will spend 2yrs in this class and the teacher is not good and kids tend to go backwards. Also the 2 boys who will stay down with him are . He is thankfully making new friends. Anyway, thought it would be more :money: to consider doing it myself, say every day 4-4.30pm. That way he would get loads more than he would with a tutor. What do you think? Is there a programme I could follow?
Have the school given you any feedback on which things he is specifically weak at or is it just overall? It might be worth asking so that you know what to focus on. I taught a girl on teaching practice who was far and away the best person in the class at creative writing (and far and away better than me although that isn't saying much) but she had such poor spelling that her regular teacher had no idea how amazing her writing was because it was so hard to decipher so it's definitely worth knowing what area(s) need focussing on.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

Welcome back Susan. Did you all have fun?
I've just had a strop in Asda!
I only went for bread, milk, wine and sweets, but it was absolutely horrendous! Very much like Christmas eve with empty shelves and til q's half way up the aisles.
I joined what I thought was a short queue, and soon realised it was the queue with the slowest possible till operator. I watched the queues either side moving nice and quickly and eventually abandoned my trolley and came home via the Co-op.:beer:0 -

I'm absolutely exhausted because my cough was really bad all week which meant I didn't sleep very well (and neither did OH so he was grumpy) but Alice had a nice time. Unfortunately it was rainy when we went to the hundred acre wood (and we didn't have as much time as I intended due to somebody else's disorganisation) so I don't think Alice really appreciated it that much but she really enjoyed London and watching the changing of the guard. She was so excited about going to London she spent most of the previous day "packing" all her toys.Welcome back Susan. Did you all have fun?
<rant>People are so rude though: The people at the front were standing on the wall holding on to the railings even though they didn't need to and then loads of really tall people (like over six foot) didn't have the consideration to stand further back. OH and I took turns to have Alice on our shoulders so she could see and I still had to be strategic about where I stood to make sure she could see because of the tall people in front. Some woman in front of us said "excuse me" to us so Ithought she wanted to get out but then it transpired she was trying to get us to let her husband in to stand in front of me which I thought was extremely rude considering I had Alice on my shoulders and he had their child on his shoulders so if I'd let him in Alice would have been able to see. There were older children who were struggling to see who should have been let into the front (I wouldn't have sent Alice to the front on her own as she's too small but I think older children should be allowed to the front) but everyone was too selfish to let anyone in front of them. Also one time on the tube, there were no seats free (but it wasn't so crowded that people couldn't easily see you needed a seat or offer you one) and there were plenty of men sitting down but none of them offered us a seat and it was left to a lady who offered us a seat after Alice nearly fell over when the train started.</rant>
Alice was really good all day including 1 1/2 hrs each way on the train between London and Oxford, 45 minutes each way on the tube to Barking and a couple of other tube journeys. On the way back the chap opposite us gave her his happy meal toy and she spent the whole journey playing happily with this plastic duck and some colouring cards from Bella Italia we'd brought with us and she'd coloured on the way there. A lady said to us she's never seen a child be entertained by a bit of plastic and a few pieces of card for so long.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

Susan, glad you had fun! Wish you had said something before going - you were about 15/20 minutes drive from me! Sounds like Alice was very well-behaved and had a great time.

Oh no - I broke the thread.
No, I was away ordering curry for tea.
I'm glad Alice enjoyed herself but  for rude people!
The first time we went to Eurodisney L was 3 1/2 and was almost trampled in a stampede of elderly rude french women wanting to meet Minnie Mouse! We were the daft ones forming an orderly British queue!:beer:0
