Mum, Dad, Nan and OH are all I really need to get now, but they're all of the awkward b00gers!
I'm hoping to sort out my secret santa today. :D

Do your Mum and Nan like scarves? I just got my mum a scarf from the Evans grabbit for 92p (Quidco 8%) :money:

My dad can always be relied upon to like a fleece jacket and/or a bottle of whisky and husbands are a PITA.

I hope to see you on Friday - I can't remember the last time I saw L, but i'm sure they were still babies.

Thanks 3, I know its been ages V and L were babies I think LoL - They still are though arent they? :o I cant have my baby grow up on me like this - sooooooooo broody right now and want another.
Im doing an access course next year though and then uni the year after to do a nursing degee, plus we dont have the room :( SIL is pregnant though and due on L's bday so that should satisfy my hormones for a while I guess!

Sparkle, the thing is that the stuff really does work. Husband was a hardcore smoker for almost 30 years, he'd tried to quit multiple times and the only thing that worked was Champix. But he was slightly depressed, his sleep patterns were effed up, he hallucinated once or twice and had these weird dreams where he would act as though he were awake and just say these really weird things. Once he came into the bedroom around 3am, tripped and fell over a suitcase on the floor and announced that the fall had broken his batwings. He had no memory of it in the morning and I was utterly freaked out. He wrote about it elsewhere online, let me go and find it and C&P (ignore all the !!!!'s, he is a potty mouth):
Champix will !!!! with your head. It locks onto specific nicotinic receptors in your brain even tighter than nicotine can which is how it works. If smokers can think that far back, they might remember pretty vivid dreams when they first started puffing away. Same thing multiplied.

The drug works by stopping the rush that cigarettes give you. Nicotine can't latch onto the brain receptors because they're blocked by a different chemical that doesn't give you a rush. By the end of your first week you're already starting to get tired of smoking and you begin to smoke fewer even though the packaging tells you not to make any effort to cut down in the first four weeks. I remember my last cigarette well because I was SO !!!!ing annoyed at the pointlessness of smoking and getting stinky and getting absolutely nothing out of it.

But drinking on top of this stuff? Not a good idea. REALLY not a good idea. Running around East Berlin naked in February while screaming "!!!! Poland!" is downright clever in comparison. Sleepwalking (in people who don't sleepwalk) is only the tip of the iceberg. I still have trouble believing some of the !!!! my wife tells me I did during that time. But the important thing is that she was there and helped me through it and I haven't had a fag for almost 2 years now. The bad news is I do still occasionally wish I could have one, and I still have dreams about smoking (though they're usually negative toward it).

tl;dr: Chantix/Champix works but it has some very strong side effects. Ideally you'll have someone around you 24/7 while you take it to help ensure your safety from your own actions. Batwings may break. It helped me (a 30-year smoker) quit for good, unlike the 817 previous attempts.

Sparkle, the thing you need to remember is just to keep an eye on him and watch his mood. It seems that depression is a really common side effect - and probably to be expected since you're messing with brain chemistry - but at the same time it's just masking the brain chemistry damage that nicotine does. Make sure he knows now that it can cause hallucinations, and if he starts saying/doing weird things make sure to tell him very clearly that he is hallucinating and if he's doing anything particularly weird watch him more closely.
