I started a new thread after the 'things in the arms' to start afresh without everyone coming to see what the fuss was about :)
I'm keeping more of an eye on it because if the rules are being followed no one can complain about or report the thread :)

but having a secret code that only some will be able to understand won't help :)

I was going to make a comment but GISI has said it already. There was no need to PM everyone when the Secret Santa was being referred to and people joining the relevant Facebook group after having read about it on this thread. There are over 50 regular and semi-regular posters and many more lurkers/pregnancy thread graduates who could have joined in through reading about it and PMing.

It is extremely unfair and disingenuous to accuse us of excluding some people when it is the deletion of the relevant posts that makes it appear that exclusions are happening.

btw the secret squirrel stuff may have some contributors to this thread feeling like they're being excluded from something, as it's only obvious to people in the know most people have asked what is going on and been informed - no biggie

if you want anyone from the thread to join in why not pm them and ask them to join you on facebook , or if you're happy for any posters from the thread to join you there then why not post
'some of us are also friends on facebook, where we are able to discuss things that are not allowed within the rules of MSE, if you would like to join us there let one of us know'
of course if you're not happy for just anyone to join in with the squirrel thing then maybe it should be kept off the thread

    thanks

    Glad :)
I would just like to say that we welcomed anyone to join the event that shall not be named- indeed we delayed the distribution of names so that more pregnancy thread graduates had time to join.

It is only now not accessible to everyone as we aren't allowed to refer to it on here. I accept that that is to prevent breaking MSE rules, but it is certainly not because we don't want any parent to join in.

You're so sensible, Susan (and Bruno). No-one will mistake either of you.

Serial lurker here. Glad, I'm sorry but your post makes us look - den den der -cliquey! I was going to reply with Gisi's comments but I might not have been so polite. My blood is curently boiling :o. Not everyone has a facebook account hence the initial invite on here!

I don't remember what started all this BG interest but it's driving me crackers (not an insult Glad as you are just doing your job but it's very frustrating). We've got to PT15 with no probs and now all this policing and making things look worse. And I'm just a lurker....

Apologies Glad, I wasnt meaning to cause offence by saying weasels, it wasnt meant as a derogatory comment, it was just in line with my squirrel train of thought....

I am more than happy for anyone to join in, and anyone who has posted wondering what the squirreling was about was sent a pm to join in...

So for anyone who reads the thread, I apologise to anyone who has taken my behaviour to be excluding them from the event. I found it very difficult to engage others as the posts regarding the details were not allowed under the MSE rules which I fully appreciate...and I didnt want any pm's to be seen as herding people to join in who may for whatever reason not want to participate...

I also apologise for all the stress of being an utter moron in trying to organise it. I was just trying to do something nice for everyone who has been so nice to me through everything. This isnt meant as a guilt trip to anyone, but I actually consider the people on this thread to be my friends, without whom, I cant begin to imagine where I would be. Having zero friends in real life has meant this place has become my outlet for everything.

All I can say is I'm very sorry for wasting everybodys time and effort, however I think, perhaps following Glad's post and everything else besides, that the idea be laid to rest, as I now quite frankly give up, straw, camel and back....

I'll be off now, if anyone wants to take over tryng to re-organise the whole thing, please PM me, I'll be online for another 20 or so minutes and then after that, Im afraid I'll be signing off indefinitely.

I love you all, and thank-you so much for everything you've done for me.... xx

Surely it would be easier just to respond if and when anyone complained than to spend all your time reading the waffle? It must drive you mad too!

One of the reasons that this thread has done so well self-regulating is that we all know when someone's having a hard time and cut them a bit of extra slack so they don't get unnecessarily upset.

Perhaps Glad's not reading closely enough to know that CAFC's had a very tough few days and weeks, but I for one am really unhappy with the way she's been made to feel over something that is after all designed to provide people with festive cheer.

Why is it that in the Arms (and I believe DFW and OS as well?) people are allowed to refer directly to public meets, whereas here we arent allowed to have a secret santa? It should be one rule for the whole of the forum, not one rule for them and one rule for us. Out of all the threads on the whole of the forum, why are we being singled out?

The only reason we look cliquey over this whole matter is because we were forced to speak in code. We cant include people "not in the know" when we are being constantly censored.
