Tara - can you do something nice and simple like pate and toast, or melon for a starter? Perhaps a pasta main - something like Weezl's Alfredo or Carbonara? Then perhaps a cake for dessert?
I need to start thinking about this too - my parents are coming over tomorrow night and I said I'll cook, but I'm regretting it now - hoping to do something in the slow cooker, possibly lamb in red wine with mash and veg - bit of a cop out, but I still need to pack for our holiday too.

I am taking everything out of the boxes and inserting batteries etc as I buy. I will start wrapping soon as soon as I have chosen my theme for this year
I usually have a theme or colour scheme for paper ribbon etc, for adults. But have actually just been searching ebay for Santa Sacks. I Like these, but £12.99 ? Dunno? Would save wrapping kids presents though and i could just chuck everything in.
Not my Santa, is on my list to buy to go in the Christmas Eve Hamper, but Asda seemed to have it missing from the shelves on my last visit.
Off to Next or Asda tonight, Joe is in desperate need of new hat and gloves and maybe boots. He is off to a Caravan somewhere in Devon next week with his Grandma, Uncle and Cousins and I need to kit him out in case the weather is bad.0 -
Tara - whenever we go to my parents we have chopped up veg/nachos (we always have tesco value ones because they are the yummiest
) and dips. If you are feeling organised you can make the dips, if not no-one will mind them from a pack I'm sure. Salsa is easy to make. Hummus is too if you have a food processor. Or natural yoghurt with some cucumber and mint (I always make that one the night before so the mint infuses through better
)

Wow - I can't believe that some of you have themes for wrapping - I'm so impressed. I'm doing well if I manage to use Christmas wrapping paper. I thought I did well getting some posh (well, posh for me!) shiny wrapping paper from M&S last year, but I couldn't actually get the sellotape to stay on it! Oh well, cheap stuff for me again this year

I don't like pate. Could I do Soup then a Cabonara? Soups quite simple ish to make in advance. Can go Tescos once DH home SS, don't know what they'll have by that time though, not exactly big, but local Post Office does fresh bread in the morning.
Do you know where in Devon WM?Too many children, too little time!!!

Well done freebie for perservering with the bfing and good that you got him to take an expressed bottle, def gives you a break even if for 20 mins. I am trying to express but only did 2oz this morning when he only took one side as think need to keep up my energy as still struggling to eat, is odd re sides as I seem to find my left side easier for him to latch onto and also seem to get a lot more from expressing this side. I never tidy when my Mum's coming round, she's raised 4 children so she knows how messy they get and I don't really care if she thinks we live in a hovel lol... But an example of my Nana.. Looking at crumbs on the floor and pointedly asking "how often do you hoover up?" Or checking out the ironing mountain and asking "how do you manage to do your ironing?" basic answer to both... I don't very often...kitkat5566 wrote: »LOL very true! I must confess I have told people I am going out sometimes as I CBA to tidy up, mind you OHs mum is coming over later and I am not bothering with tidying, its a mess but nothing compared to her house :eek: LOL
I have a couple of sacks bought from Dunelm, not personalised but half the price... And I still wrap the presents before I put them in the sack lol...workinmummy wrote: »I usually have a theme or colour scheme for paper ribbon etc, for adults. I wanted to get Benjamin into the book now so he understands as we move towards christmas.
I have half a plan for him to give his dummies to santa for christmas (only half a plan mind!!!) so this will require a bit of preparation.
Will J think it strange if santa changes his method of giving now? (wrapping to sacks) or will he just go along with it because it is all gifts!!! DSS never questioned when santa started coming to our house as well as his mums...even though for 3 years before I came along hubby had just taken him gifts from himself (not santa gifts!).
All of Tesco's clothes and hats are pap ATM IMHO so I would go to Asda if I had a choice
(having said that, I did buy Benjamin a hat, gloves and scarf set in Tesco today...but more out of necessity than anything else!)please listen to MFD - she is a wise woman

I actually love those santa sacks- I might order H one as part of his present this year then it will last for years to come.
On Joe's caravan adventures- make sure he has warm PJs and a dressing gown. My mum lives in a caravan (don't ask, she does own a house but prefers to live in a caravan *rolls eyes*) and it is really, really cold in there at the moment! Especially at night.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator
