When I take a list I make a little rip next to what I've put in the basket/trolley :)
I press the item on my phone and it disappears from my list, leaving behind just those items I still need.

i dont take a list because i only every buy the same things.
i am open minded to half price offers, but i dont see how im falling into the supermarkets trap of buying more that i originally wanted, if i only ever buy 1/2 price and bogof's on a whim?

when its a big shop i always have a list, and always look at the larger packs/ alternative brands for the price/100kg or litres for liquids.

its amazing what you discover when doing this....

its sort of depresses me that you wrote the list on your iphone and not on a piece of paper, guess im just oldfashioned. im surprised how many people dont take lists, must not be skint :) i alway use a list or at least have an idea of what im going to buy, its been one of those old habits that hasNTdied hard

Except when you press it accidentally, it disappears, and you can't remember what it was!

I did look like a massive geek though, as my shopping list was on the iPhone but it was a free app, so it's okay :D

I use a free iphone app for my shopping list as well. I do find it really handy. And taking a list DEFINITELY helps me to rein in my spending.:)

  • I devised a meal planner sheet with three sections
first column - needs using up
    second column - meals
    third column - shopping list

i print a stack and then perforate them all at once with a little wheel thingy i got for some fabric project that i cant remember ....

so you rip off the list to go shopping and you can add things to the next list if you run out of basics as its now showing - and .......and.....
and some of my friend hate that i do this sort of thing - but i just cant help it ...!

    It's actually easier.

I have one on my iphone a well and its in aisle order of my local Tesco. Great little app.

Have also started doing a weekly meal planner and making sure that shopping has all the elements required to make meals. Cheaper but still find the odd thing creeping into the basket.
