  • Sorry can I just confirm something before I place an order if anyone can help me please?

I want to order a few magazine subscriptions as xmas presents. I can't double up my points to buy these can I? I have to just use the relevant club card vouchers sent to me to the amount requested on the deal, eg £9.50???

    Is this correct please?
A small Thank You can make a BIG difference ;)

Come on MSERs loads of you are in the same boat as me!!! I'm able to look now and anything worth having I'll post. One poster said they'll spend the vouchers on food shopping. I'm thinking those X4 deals must be the best even if I re=sell what I bought.

We have always used our points on the Merlin Annual Passes, but for ourselves, not to sell on. That way we all get free family days out that last all year, or at least whilst the Theme Parks are open.

We have given them as gifts to Grandparents before, so they can also join us on free days out.

Plus we have all made use out of them on visits to London, on the London Eye and Madame Tussauds (and now London Aquarium, with the Shark Walk).

Difficult to see how anyone can point out "best value" items when you're looking to spend the equivalent of £1,000 before being hit by the big devaluation. I wish you lots of luck but really, time's fast running out to be pondering on options. . .

What one person may think is a great 'buy' with their vouchers, others may not. It really is down to personal preference.
As for Tesco imposing a maximum spend on Goldsmiths without notice, that is highly unlikely in the short term.

Toffeeapple, with magazine subscriptions it tells you the value of vouchers needed to buy the subscription, no doubling etc, the amount you see is the amount you use.

Yes it's definitely one's preference maybe I needed to say that I as well as others would much prefer £1000 or at least £650. That to me would represent value and could buy me a holiday instead of the inflated rates through Cosmos/Virgin. So I was looking for advice on what to buy which could be sold on for at least three quarters of the price. I searched ebay for Goldsmiths new items and the prices they sell at are sometimes less than half at cost price so I'll have to re-assess. I like the idea of the Merlin Passes for the family.

@Chichi, I have the same dilemma but only about £100 of points to convert. a lot of the deals are not worth the "4x" value.

of those that are, there is no way we will use £400 of restaurant/days out vouchers in 6 months as I am expecting a baby in Feb. also we always end up spending out on drinks in the restaurant deals, so its not quite such a good deal as you think.

I have bought presents from Golsdmiths in the past but the jewellery is overpriced, the watches are ok, but dont need any more.

Nationwide car servicing and MOT is worth a look, if your car needs a service and MOT in the next 6 months - you can use the cash you would have spent on that on something else instead.

I am also going to get some cineworld vouchers as we spend a fortune taking the kids to the cinema.

I need advice asap bout what to spend £250 worth clubcard vouchers giving me a total spend of £1000 before Dec 6th. Which deal represents best value and which ones have no max spend?? Please MSERs who know this info help me! I've called Cosmos and with their max of £400 per person I'm looking to top up a holiday with £600 cash. I can book a separate holiday for 2 for £600 - it's such a con!!! Need edvice from people who have worked out the best deals. Not fussy what it is. Much appreciated.

From a purely personal point of view, I think almost all the supposedly 4x deals are bad value if you're trying to spend £250 vouchers. When it's 3x, shortly, the value will be even poorer, and I'm ditching Tesco altogether.

Best bet for me (and I had around £500 to get rid of before they devalue the things by a third) was to convert them at double the value on the current offer, and then use them on Tesco Direct. Some of the stuff on there's overpriced, and there aren't many bargains, but we found what we were looking for at not much more than the normal price.
  • We've never been regular Tesco customers (awful shop IMO and ludicrously overpriced these days) but we have benefitted from most of the 'crazy' clubcard offers over the years (thanks to paidtoshop!), like the 2000 points for a £20 internet dongle etc. Now we are going to convert all our remaining vouchers to Goldsmiths ones before 6/12 and treat ourselves to something nice. Yes, they are usually overpriced (although the service they give you is fantastic, lol!) but as the vouchers have effectively cost us so little in real terms we don't mind. Incidentally, I recently was allowed to pay for an item from the Joyful collection that had been (allegedly!) significantly reduced so maybe they have relaxed the rule regarding only being able to get non-sale items?

Thanks guys. TBH I've been saving up for a couple of years. I have an old clubcard plus which gives double points plus normal clubcard so \I get 2 sets of vouchers. I spend less than £60 per week on food/fuel so not a big spender plus have Eon energy which gives points. I've been loyal to Tesco and really expected to get a nice holiday but as said before I'll end up paying extra cash enough to buy a holiday on its own. If I had shopped at Morrisons/Asda the reality is that the savings made would have probably equalled £1000 over 2 years as Tesco prices are inflated (saving bout £10 a week in a piggy bank!). The attraction of Tesco is their extra stores selling electricals and clothing.

The main catch is that you are buying over-inflated rewards. For example £250 of vouchers gets you an Aston Martin experience. I saw this a few weeks ago on lastminute for bout £180. Oh well can't complain better than a poke in the eye!! Made a decision to buy things I need near normal price so it mit be double up for Tesco direct.
  • What's everyones experience on buying something with double up then taking it back for refund?

I remember last time this was on in July/August time i just got it refunded onto my card.
