I'm going to trade in my points for restaurant vouchers before Dec 5 but not having done this before can anyone tell me what denominations they come in? eg if i ask for £40 of pizza express vouchers will they be 10s/20s or what? Thanks!
Ours have also always come in £10 no matter how many have ordered waiting for £380 worth to turn. Can't wait now we have had a cafe rouge just open up fairly near to us recently and went last night using a 2 for 1 mains voucher we both had ribeye steak and chips that tasted lovely. We had always used mainly pizza express but noticed most of the restaurant tend to be pasta or pizza places so it was nice to have the steak for a change. We also tried the Mela in London a few weeks back and that was nice found the menu a little confusing to what we are used to but the food was very good and can't wait to go back and try the keema nan bread again the best I have ever tasted. The best thing is knowing it is all paid for in tesco deals except the drinks and what little it goes over the nearest £10. Now the thought is making me hungry

Cosmos prices are massively over inflated. I looked at this for this year and found that the same holiday at Thomas Cook, worked out the same in cash that i would have had to pay Cosmos AND use cc vouchers to the value of £400 per person.
I urge you to check elsewhere first, you could get your holiday for the same price and STILL have cc points to use.

I think it all relative really. Yes the holidays are expensive in comparison to other companies, and I realise I'm not getting the best value from the vouchers by using them at Cosmos, however as I have very little money and wouldn't be able to buy a holiday in cash anyway (unless I used the vouchers at face value for normal shopping and used the cash saved to pay for that) it's actually a pretty good deal IMO. If anyone can find a fortnight in spain in a villa with a pool for a family of four, inclusive of flights, for less than £342 i'd be impressed.:)

Very nice. Haven't got mine yet, which will be £70 and therefore worth £280 off an already booked holiday, which is therefore currently at (some risk). And when I get the vouchers I then have to apply for tokens, wait for tokens to arrive (dependent on Royal Mail -great...) and then send off to the holiday co, all before the December date.

Therefore for the moment, Tesco remain (potentially) a bunch of scamming, scheming, rip-off merchants. Guilty until proved innocent...

    :o

Check online, I haven't got my vouchers yet by post but they are showing online so I've already converted mine into holiday vouchers. And aren't the vouchers issued at the 4x value, so as long as you order them before the Dec date you'll still get the current terms, you don't have to have physically received them or sent them to the holiday co.
  • Yes you get a voucher for a merlin annual pass that can be changed at any of the attractions and this last for 6mths and does not state an amount it is the cost of a full annual pass. But check where you are going to use it as london dungeons can't do them as have no camera facility but most do. All the theme parks are definately able to do them

    Thank you!

Sorry, but I don't think I've seen anyone actually questioning this decision by Tesco.

Can they make such changes retrospectively?

I made conscious decisions to purchase goods, petrol and undertake financial services with Tesco on the basis of the terms and advertisements at that time.
i.e. I understood my transactions were accumulating at the 4x rate.

For Tesco to apply this retrospectively seems very wrong and surely countrary to the trade description act. All advertisements and suporting materials at the time of transactions would indicate and support the previous saving rate.

I can accept and understand that Tesco are perfectly entitled to change their terms, with notice, at a future date, but can they do this retrospectively?

In effect by deciding to retain the double-clubcard rate they have de-valued ALL prior/pre-existing vouchers.
Did Tesco declare that at the outset? Were we duped?

Personally, I'd rather they just kept the vouchers at the original and advertised rate.

On top of this, there is a sting in the tail:
Tesco are reducing their maximum holiday contributions.
For example, previously you could put vouchers to the value of £700 for a Virgin holiday, per person. This will reduce the maximum value of rewards vouchers you can use at £525.
So a change from 4x to 3x rate AND reducing maximum you can put towards holidays.

I feel like I've just be mugged in broad dayllight.

    Is Martin seeing this?
    :money:
seems like it's exactly the kind of issue he'd be championing for us all ?

    Shame on you Tesco.

I know what you mean, but I'm pretty sure they would have had small print in the T&Cs of Clubcard that they reserve the right to withdraw / amend it whenever they want!

Aware that we'll be getting X3 instead of x4 for rewards. Been saving for years and have bout £250 worth of vouchers so that's bout £1000 to spend on a holiday. What would be better air miles, Cosmos or Virgin. Wondering if anyone knows which if any represents best value for money or selling on ebay? The holidays from these companies cost far more than I would ordinarily pay so I'm looking to top up.

Update: You roughly get X2 if selling on ebay. The hols are vey expensive and have a limit of £400 per person so top-up is inevitable. I want to make the best use of these vouchers cash or deals. Any advice anyone? Need to decide before Dec.

Well anyone specifically buying vouchers on eBay in expectation of getting a holiday out of it could be expensively disillusioned.

When Tesco despatches its letter "Thank you for your Tesco Clubcard rewards order" it encloses tokens to the converted value over-stamped with both the name of the holiday provider, the token serial number, and the last name of the token claimant.

Anyone buying a token whose name doesn't match the name on the token is stuffed.

Anyone buying a token whose name happens fortuitously to be the same as the original claimant is still stuffed because the voucher number is checked at the processing stage to ensure the last name on the token can be reconciled with the registered address. If it can't, the transaction is voided.

The eBay seller is then open to chargeback, so the price received has to be refunded and their tokens are wasted.

As to the December 6th deadline, it'll be here before you know it. We were lucky enough to be in the first batch of November mail-outs so our claims were processed rapidly. However, as claims arising from subsequent batches add to Tesco's existing workload, it seems possible that processing may slow down.

You need to decide what you want to do ASAP, not "before Dec."

Perhaps a cruise with Cunard, P&O or Princess Cruises? If you've got £2000 in vouchers, that's currently £8000 worth of cruising - just about enough for a couple of suites for a fortnight.

No limit on the maximum amount you can use, unlike some of the other holidays.
